It doesn't win every week. But how pathetic must your game be when the highest rating matches in Melbourne & Perth are Rugby League. And then we have to listen to your dribble about how well your game rates

Which means 3/10ths of fuck all, the three origin matches are marquee events. they are still not representative of any interest in the game itself. It it was, then the 80,000 people in Adelaide would be enough to get Nine to even show the damn sport live regularly, and Melbourne ratings wouldnt get done by the fucking VFL.
No , your right. They could be playing AFL or marbles , they'd still get 4.1m - its the event that they go to see
wookie, your starting to sound as desperate as your mushroom mates.

Still has to be the right event dumbass. See the soccer world cup ratings. Doesnt mean anyone gives a crap about the aleague. See Olympics.
The soccer ratings from teams on the other side of the world. Not a sport a few 100 miles away who are in direct competition . And unlike soccer on the local/club scene, have the majority of highest rating matches on both FTA and PTV, . And when rugby league flexes its muscles and plays rep football it just blows the oppositon away

It doesnt explain how the ratings evaporate after Origin, just like they do after world cups. If 400k are watching in Melbourne one day, and then its back to 20k, a couple of days later, you bet your *** its because of the buildup and hype of the event.
Maybe it brings into question Melbourne public's reputation as a sports lovers. Maybe it's it all just a Myth??? As you say they love the hype and build up of an event. The presentation ceremony for last years Grand Final out - rating the match itself seems to support what you are saying .
The NRL hardly just evaporate though. In the match on Friday night - minus there best player, yet they still finish only a few hundred k behind the AFL . How would AFL's third last team go? Oh...that's right, your lower placed teams are forbidden from the competing in the Friday night time slot. Then on Saturday the NRL averaged 230-240k on Fox, well above the AFL.
Im not claiming Melbourne as a Rugby league stronghold - not yet

But the NRL does rate higher in Melbourne than AFL rates in Sydney.

erm yeah where does it say that?
did the NRL game rate higher on fox, because the AFL game was shown on FTA as well? or was there another AFL game going on at the same time?
unlike the NRL mostly only ever play the 1 game at a time, in the time channel 9 want them to play in for the rake of ratings?

Given the average NRL game rates 21 in Melbourne (31 if you include origin and tests) and the average AFL game rates 35 in Sydney, I call bullshit.
You might be right on the club figures. But the rep games have attracted over 1m viewers this season. At 15k difference at club level, say 50k a week = half a million in 10 weeks.
The past 3 Grand Finals have all seen the NRL rate better in Melbourne than the AFL in Sydney.
And, whats more, the NRL team in the heartland of the AFL is near the top of the list on Ptv.

It would also be worth counting the other half of Qld.
Two of the largest cities outside the OzTam catchment area in South Australia are Paskerville & Snow town.
Paskerville covers an area of 369 sq. kilometres, its population is 470. Snow town covers a larger area but its population is less. after that? the desert.
On the other hand rugby league strongholds in Quenesland places like Charters Towers & Roma, towns that have produced league legends like Aurthur Beetson and Darren Lockyer, have population of 7k & 8k and are amongst the many Qld cities not covered by regional tam.
