So, let's get this right, you are saying that in Australia rl may be more popular based on rating figures ... Which include people watching in nz? I can't see how you can argue rl is more popular in Australia by adding on figures for who is watching on nz. If your argument is simply that rl gets more viewers then okay ... Although I am not even sure that is correct , but to extrapolate to this meaning rl is more popular in Australia does not work.

Nope, it's clearly wrong. AFL ratings are higher than the nrl. That's why AFL has a higher TV deal.

Well it has been a tough season for the NRL as they trotted out their 16 teams to take on the 18 of the AFL with all their extra games to watch. No one seemed to raise a question on that one. But before kickoff the NZ Warriors are kicked out for non compliance to AFL protocols. Real shock to the NRl boys as they thought of the Warriors as close team mates. Then on top off that the specialists teams of the SOO are also flicked for non compliance.
Just when you thought it could not get worse the AFL authorities are raising questions on the Canberra Raiders wanting to know what state they come from in the Australian islands. Looks dodgy for the NRL but looks like they are going to take the field.
To avoid further issues the AFL authorities have decreed that to make sure that the "NRL fits the right AFL framework" for comparison" that the NRL cannot include and future teams from expansion in any country. Further any attempt to create more FTA games or more cable games will not be allowed. Further sanctions maybe forthcoming if the NRL fails to conform.
Just goes to show you that when it comes to rules no one dictates them like the Aussie Rules crew.

When you take the lead then you take the lead and then don't you go onto to win. only problem is the AFL crew like to turn the race into a handicap with rue handicapping on the run just to keep the NRL on its toes.
Bottom line is the NRL offers a product package and the AFL another. The race is between the respective packages.
Not so hard to "obliterate" the NRL during SOO and the split rounds as it happens every year. The offset for NRL is SOO. It is all about the complete package.

Think you are confusing the NRL with the AFL again. NRL ratings drop per game during SOO because of the focus that SOO brings and top players being unavailable. It is not about the reduced number of games.
But in the end it doesn't matter if the total NRL package is used as reference point.

SOO is part of the NRL package. They take the hit on the club games and reap the reward on SOO. Only the AFL crew try to extract it from the NRL offering.
