That's not true dave . I think you're including nz figures again. If you want to say highest rating in Australasia sure, but as to which code is more popular in Australia by using TV ratings then you need to stick to Australian figures

Wow. Complete and utter denial at it's finest. When will you leaguetards learn that nobody gives a shit about the NRL outside of the state of origin. This is why your grand final always loses to ours and this is why we demolish you during the week to week tv ratings.  #virign

the NRL average gets bumped up thanks to its its double on friday nights and many of the AFL regional areas arnt covered, any ways you loose in the ratings :(/ even though rather unreliable. NRL still looses :)))

What ? ... the average boosted by the 2 hour delayed game after 10 O'clock. Are you serious?

Is'nt 49, 234( achieved from less matches) better than 46 754?

the game is shown straight after the first one. if the 2nd game was shown after a movie, no one would watch the replay

Ratings that don't include the regionals are rather non informative given around 45% of the people in the NRl states ,including the ACT , live outside Sydney BRisbane. The different demographics of the AFL states gives a much greater correlatIon to their full market.

DEspite repeated attempts by various AFL posters to denigrate the regionals as second class and of less importance in the ratings the current NRL TV deal shows nothing of the sort.

If the AFL crew wants to compete with the NRl then do it on an honest basis which by the way should include NZ ratings. Just because the NRL chose to cultivate NZ as opposed to Perth as a expanded market does not disqualify this part of the NRL.

Wookie has addressed the first point above.

Re nz figures ... It depends on what you are using the figures for re what argument you are positing. If the argument is which is the most popular code in Australia .. Then no, nz figures should not be used. If you are arguing the nrl has an international reach, sure point to the nz ratings as proof. Same if you are arguing which is more popular across the two nations ... Fine. But as the nrls standing in aus .. Nz figures can't be used . Could you imagine a one day game Australia between India and Australia counting the Indian figures. Or rugby union people claiming ratings for South Africa to say ru is more popular in Australia ?

Firstly I endorse Wookies point but the issue is that the inclusion of all the ratings data here is atypical. In nearly every other post you will find regional or rep footy missing. This is always to the disadvantage of the NRL.

Yes if the AFL people want to compare themselves to the NRL then it has to include NZ as they are part of the NRL competition. You cannot not decide what part of the NRL counts and what doesn't.

You're confusing the argument , if you are saying how popular nrl is in Australia you can't point to those watching in nz. If you want to compare the two comps yep, you can use the nz figures to highlight how nrl has a further international reach... But I fail to see how people watching in nz supports the argument of how popular nrl is in Australia.

RL/NRL wins the ratings in Australia without NZ ... has done for 6 straight years
& embarrasses the VFL with them by over 20 million veiwers

it is the most watched sport in Australia ... & easily the most watched sport in Australasia
that is all........
