Yes I defend the AFL's stance by not intervening in mutual confidential agreements. How ridiculous would it be if a player and an individual settled a matter in confidence and then the AFL broke confidentiality!

I dont think AFL fans defend issues that are clear cut. It's the issues that are debatable that result in defence. Does the AFL have an issue with illicit drugs? Yes, but it is being addressed and other sports face these issues also. Does the AFL have racist incidents? Yep, but so do others. You can't stop a few morons, all you can do is ban them when they step out of line. Does the AFL try hard to protect their image? Yep, which is hardly unusual.
