At the Gabba. Just less than half full. Full strength beer in corporate boxes. Very drunk.

So todays crowds:
NRL 11k and 12k = 23k. Total for round about 63k
AFL 19k, 20k, 21k, 51k, 25k = 136k Total for round about 192k

a team that won the wooden spoon in 2012
having won just 7 of its last 28
& they were lapped by 50 last week
up against the Sharks who wouldn't have brought many with them
11K is about what was expected
now
I somehow don't think that the VFL hierarchy , Swines fans
& the vicky kicky pom pom wavers in here
would have expected 20K at the Swines first home game as premiers after a paltry 23K at ANZ in the battle of the busted buttholes
against the tsunami the week before
If I'd trotted out the above attendances a few months ago as predictions
I'd of been laughed off these pages would I not ?
I don't see any chortling from you lot ATM ?
only
Vicky kicky in Sydney
door nails have more life in them

I think 20 000 for AFL in Sydney is pretty good , particularly given the variables you mentioned previously RD such as rain , quality of opposition . I would think 20 000 in a city where RL dominates is pretty good?? Surely?? Particularly given that the culture of the city is not to go to games in large numbers. The titans got 25 000 against the broncos and I thought that was a good crowd , particularly given the struggles of the code on the GC. Surely 20 000 is a good crowd when nrl get similar and often smaller crowds and that's the dominant code by a mile. If swans are getting 20000 you would expect the average of nrl games in Sydney, which is the doninsnt codd in sydney by a ciuntry mile, to surely get at least twice that on average? Are you expecting the swans to get similar crowds to similar nrl games ? That would suggest the two codes are on par which they are not. I guess the question is what crowd do you expect in a city where it is not the dominant code. Do you then hold the storm up to the same expectations .

but but but
At least the nRL doesn't set the bar high, otherwise that would get very embarrassing. nRL heartland my arse. nRL has no heartland

the swans vs suns game, a new team, that finished second bottom of the ladder, one that you class a team that no one cares about, still drew more people to it than, the 2 nrl games combined, in rainy wet weather!
the Essendon a middle of the comp side vs Melbourne the joke of the competition drew 52k last nite :D
insert BS excuse here

100k
This from the MCG:
@MCG: @weedo04 @AFL: All seats were sold. MCC/AFL members areas 4k short of capacity. Almost 6000 Collingwood members did not use reserved seats.
The game was a sellout but people for some reason buy tickets and don't show or reserve seats and don't show.

38k for the eagles v hawks
That makes the round an impressive 350,737
That makes the season tally 716,606 which is the largest tally after round 2 EVER!!! =D> =D> =D>
In fact the AFL have never had a tally over 700,000 after the first 2 rounds! Last year was the closest at 677k.
