NRL are the dominate codes in the 1st and 3rd market share of the Australian broadcast market. NRL show more games in prime time. the Friday night's show 2 games.

All codes are down when it comes to Crowds
The AFL is down on Crowds FTA figures and down on Fox......................its a triple wammy.
NRL is up on FTA
Total FTA viewers in 2013 5,901.000
Total FTA viewers in 2014 7,580.000
Wow now that is a staggering result. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

yeah it is. if the figures used are correct .. its worth noting that your claimed FTA victory is based on a comparison which includes sunday football this year on nine, but not last year according to the note at the bottom (last years sunday football averaged 390k on Nine) and would conveniently put the leagues FTA ratings a touch beyond this seasons.
2013 Sunday Football on Nine
Round 1: Melbourne v St George - 526k
Round 2: Wests v Perth - not reported
Round 3: Penrith v Souths - 467k
Round 4: Penrith v Gold Coast - 364
Round 5: St George v Newcastle - not reported
raw data adds 1.36 million thats not included on the graphic for 2013, taking the figure to 7,268,000 with two sunday games mising.
The average over these early rounds was 455k, the average over the season was 390k. Using the lower average gives yuou another 780k to add to the total and you have 8,048,000 and well ill be damned, the FTA figure is down this year.
And with the Fox ratings down - and not just sligtly down, a fair way down. It seems that league has the same triple whammy. Except Fox ratings for league are down 20% against the AFL being down 0% (20,000). league is down at least 12% on FTA (AFL is down 5%), and 14% (AFL down 1%) across both fox and metro.
Wookie now take into account that the NRL 2013 had rounds 1,2,3,4,5 thursday night Live games and 2014 had only round 1.
The result for the NRL on FTA is massive.
Total FTA viewers in 2013 5,901.000
Total FTA viewers in 2014 7,580.000 4 less live games, those live games being played on Thursday during round 23,24,25,26
Its no wander the NRL is smashing the AFL on FTA, by a large margin i might add.

I must admit it is a concern, But you must have even greater concerns with your own Fox numbers. The NRL, ravaged by new technology and numbers down 20% still out rates you.
NRL - 208
AFL - 199.
Youv'e never been so close, Gold - Gold - Gold , you must nearly be able to taste it.

Given the AFL games are mostly shown concurrently we are actually way ahead for audience size

The_Wookie wrote:Well im convinced you utterly fail at both comprehension and maths. Ive never seen so many excuses from NRL fans as i am at the moment. Your claiming a FTA win that isnt even there on the raw data that your own chart says isnt there.
Our live matches rate higher,
Our matches on PTV rate higher ,
Last year we had 7 of the the top 40 highest rating programs shown on TV (nationally),
bottom line is a $50m profit!

2 targeted games should always beat 1. The fact your two games result in about 1.6-1.8m and our 1 results in 1.1-1.2m shows the real story
Then the AFL just own the Saturday and Sunday ratings
