AFL out rated the nrl though ? Did you see the grand final? Anyway I disagree with your opinion re finals I think week on and week out support is the real measure. Although if it mattered to me as it does so much to you (why? I have no idea ) then I would be looking for some way to spin it the way you have.
not for the finals

the biggest final was an NRL final our first PF

& I'd doubt the VFL would have got any more then 2 of its finals into the 8 finals played outside of the GF
if it wasn't for the rampant fudged pay ratings
access to pay tv & fta tv means you were watching the fumbles & bumbles on both don't cha know  :-k 8-[ :?>

take these away from the H&A & it isn't close
I mean yous couldn't beat us in 2012 with them .......... :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

Lol ... Taking pay away ???? Cause they don't count.

Can you explain the double counting for pay ? I have pay and watch the footy on pay due to no adds. Are you suggesting that those with set top boxes who also have pay (do they give them to those who have pay tv )set the box to seven on fta but watch on fox?

hmmmmm
maybe you can explain this

overall VFL ratings being 30% lower in 2011 then 2012 with the increase in 2012 being attributed to pay
now
where were these veiwers in 2011
they all had access to FTA tv :-k... did they not know how to turn a TV on :?
did they all suddenly just become fumbles & bumbles fans in 2012 & weren't watching in 2011 :?>

pay subscription rates did not increase sufficiently in the sthn states to account for these new veiwers
its reported in 2012 only 20,000 new subscribers signed up to pay in the VFL states
yet ten times this number of extra veiwers suddenly started watching telecasts in 2012 :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

&
where did these extra veiwers disappear to on GF day when pay didn't cover this game ? :?>
poof ... they're all gone !!
believe me
simulcasted pay ratings are just an exercise in working out who has pay & putting these people down for watching the same game on BOTH
pay & fta
a sham
a massive sham

You may be right and may be wrong ... I am just wanting to know how that would occur... Being counted twice. The only way I could see it happening is if 1. I had a set top ratings box. And 2 . I also had pay. Then 3. I would have to set the ratings box to me watching AFL on fta and then watch on pay.

People love to watch live games. The increase in 2012 was due to live games. The AFL went from 0 live games to 3 live games. I preferred to listen to the footy on the radio on Friday nights rather then watch a game delayed by an hour. The NRL would get a similar increase if it decided to increase the amount of live games they showed as well. Its not rocket science. This is another reason why the second Friday night NRL game rates so poorly.

So Dave makes a comment about double counting on fox and yet when asked to explain how this occurs fails to make any comment .... An ongoing trend on these threads

It doesn't make sense. Oztam would only count one program at a time. In fact if you don't confirm that you are watching it every 15-30 minutes it doesn't count you as watching it. The double counting is a myth concocted to explain the increase in ratings from 2011 to 2012. The fact that AFL went from 0 to 3 live games in the minds of some is not a real reason because AFL only has a set amount of fans and these numbers couldn't suddenly increase by 15%. AFL fans watch footy no matter what, theres no way that they couldn't be watching because it is not live.

I don't how but possibly Oztam , say that each seperate program can be counted because each has its own unique signal. Doesn't Foxtel take Ch 7 feed? maybe, anyrate 12,3,5,6 not bad, eh!
