THE Essendon supplements saga is due to return to court in Melbourne where a judge will decide whether the AFL avoids a full trial over its handling of the ordeal.

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan and former chairman Mike Fitzpatrick are accused of engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct in relation to public statements made about the scandal.

Melbourne lawyer Jackson Taylor launched the case against the AFL pair in a Supreme Court writ, alleging they breached consumer laws to protect their commercial interest.

AFL lawyers sought that any upcoming trial over the matter be limited to preliminary issues to restrict the need for witnesses and documents.

The league’s barrister Gregory Harris QC in March sought a “mini-trial”, arguing a full trial would be very expensive for the defendants.

Supreme Court Justice John Dixon is due to make a ruling on the matter on Wednesday morning.

In his statement of claim, Mr Taylor alleges several statements by McLachlan about the AFL’s joint investigation with the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority were misleading or deceptive.

The case centres on a number of comments, including McLachlan denying that he tried to engineer outcomes before Bombers players and officials were interviewed by and the AFL.

Mr Taylor wants the court to declare that McLachlan, Fitzpatrick and the AFL acted unlawfully.

Vlad might have to take the stand. This is going to be delicious if it goes that far.

In more bad news for the Australian Fumbling League they have lost in their bid to stop legal proceedings to hear details of the Essendon drug taking scandal.

AFL leading court jester & general laughing stock Gilligan will be forced to give evidence that he engaged in MISLEADING and DECEPTIVE conduct!!!!! Most people would call that lying!!!!!!

Well flog me with a wet lettuce....…...Gilligan is deceptive and misleading and tells lies...…..???????? Who woulda known???????? Oh yeah...….everyone except the raging AFL zealots lolololololololololol!!!!!!!!!

I'm really enjoying this AFL season lololololololololol!!!!! One of the best on record!!!!!!!!

I'd like to ask how 5k ordinary everyday Chinese people were allowed in corporate catering tents ..
Seeing as this is where corporate types try to woo business clients ..it seems rather odd that non business people would be allowed
I don't hold out much hope of ever getting an answer .
I've asked on here but all I got was deflections .
Maybe one of you cultists could answer for the leader .

Looks like the long arm of the law maybe finally catching up with the national shamejob that is the AFL. I really hope ol blubber guts andy ididapoo is required to take the stand.

I never got a chance to catch the highly acclaimed 'underbelly' series but I think it's good timing for new UNDERBELLY AFL series to be developed. There's content for atleast 8 seasons to be made I reckon  no joke.

I think the essendon drugs saga would be a real hit but personally the season titled "the stkilda schoolgirl" if directed true to the story would possibly be the most intriguing and entertaining.
