Unfortunately there were a few sellouts at the SCG last season which had far fewer then 34k attend. I think the most you can probably get at the SCG for a sold out stadium will be about 29-31k and playing GC this will probably will mean its not a sellout. Might be the biggest crowd in Sydney next weekend though

Its going to be an interesting race. Will the AFL get a higher total audience in 2 rounds than the NRL in 5?

Keane on Twitter:
Coll v Carl tickets selling strongly in public areas (5000 left) while all seating in AFL Reserve is sold. There will be no walk up in AFLReserve on day
This one game may make up 90% of the NRLs total round attendance this weekend.

Good weather forecast as well, 85k for me with MCC members holding back the crowd number as usual.

Preparing yourself for the worst? Sounds like the entire ground will be full except the MCC. Surely on a nice day theyll turn up.

Interesting discussion between MCG, AFL and fans on twitter over reserve seating for this game. They seem to be pointing the finger at each other for a game that will sell out but probably not meet capacity. Something has to be done. Its one thing to reserve a seat for the year but if youre not going to show up then let someone else sit there!
@AFL @MCG are you expecting 90,000 people to attend?
@AFL @cats_fan_20: We could, but only if members of AFL, MCC and Collingwood season reserved seat holders use their entry entitlements.
@MCG @AFL @cats_fan_20 And there's the problem, MCC members never show up in full numbers except for Grand finals. Unless its a replay! #sad
@_James_Stewart @AFL @cats_fan_20: Not just about MCC, James. In recent years, far more club members don't use their reserved seats.
In fact someone made a good comment on BF about this. The more memberships grow the more room is reserved for fans who may not show up. This limits general admission room which tends to fill for bigger games because fans not attending are replaced with others who are, unlike reserved seating. This is why we have had so many sellouts that were well short of capacity recently.
