And what’s your point it doesn’t show the whole ground for starters

And severantines I have posted photos from that game day released from the official nrlol twitter feed with crowd numbers on it and it wasn’t good enough for you loons

So unless you have anything official the crowd was 12k that turned up 7k more than the drag queens vs Minnowbourne Storm game!

Don’t like it eat a bag of dicks and move it and again stop being a hypocrite with selective sources

NRL Split Round 4 games only

AFL normal 9 games

NRL total 43,200
NRL average 10,800

AFL total 363,684
AFL average 40,409

5 individual AFL games attendance exceeded the total NRL attendance

The AFL average attendance came close to 4 times that of the NRL average.

However the same good be said of the lowest attended AFL games.

The home game attendance at Gold Coast was higher than any NRL game of the round.
But don't forget there was over 12,000 at the Suns game and I think almost 5 thousand bus loads of fans didn't make it to the ground in time.

I was there and it was a good crowd. The busiest o have seen it. General admission was sold out. Thought the figure would have been higher then the 16 or so thousand quotes.

And unlike last year where we disagreed, this year there was a lot of Richmond supporters ... there was a whole section in the upper stand that was yellow and black. Still plenty of Sun’s supporters there but outnumbered by tigers supporters for sure. This seems to happen for both titans (as I have shown previously) and sun. Good for tourism I guess. As have mentioned before, there will be a few of those local tiger supporters there next week urging on the suns as seems to be the want of many local supporters here... when there team is up the go to support them and outside this rock up to the weekly suns game.

And here's a beautifully written article about crowds in Australia entitled "Why are we so worried about attendances!!!. A great objective article.......magnificently articulated by a master wordsmith!!!

Here's a couple of quotes:

"Fans and pundits need to essentially ignore the AFL’s attendance figures. It’s a statistical anomaly in Australian sport."

"In context, NRL crowds are likely fine".

Yep......couldn't have said it better myself. I urge all posters here to read the article in full.......it's a beauty!!!!

https://www.theroar.com.au/2018/04/11/w ... tendances/
And while everything I wrote there is true, its not the fight club is it. Written for a different audience. One that appreciates context. Cant do that here remember, you guys froth at the mouth over it - unless you are the ones doing it - which seems to be ok when it comes to Origin affecting crowds and such.
So there have it folks!!! You can take anything Wookie says with a grain of salt. He admits he changes his real views & opinions depending on the audience. Like....... if RL folk make him cranky he'll change his actual view on crowds just because the poor devil don't like ya lolololol!!!!!!!

This is very good to know in the overall contextof things!!!!

Nice work there Q.

Are you telling us that an AFL expansion club in RL Heartland pulled a bigger crowd than NRL games that included...?

1, League ladder leaders
2, Reigning champs
3, Newcastle at home
4, The leagues most powerful club

The Gold Coast Sun's home game bigger than all these?

For the health and wellbeing of our northern counterparts,
Say it ain't so.........

The Newcastle attendance is bewildering, lowest ever, when their average attendance this year was their 2nd highest.
The last home game against the warriors was in 2017 with 11,824
What went wrong?

Newcastle Home Games after or before a SOO game
SOO———————-Round——-Attendance——Season Average——Decrease——%-Decrease
2014:Game 2——15———-11295————————17616—————- 6321—————35.9
2015:Game 2 15 14081 15891. 1810 11.4
2016:Game 1 12 12856 14457 1601 11.1
2016:Game 2 16 13777 14457 680 4.7
2016:Game 3 19 10748 14457 3709 25.7
2017:Game 3 19 13103 14457 1354 9.4
2018:Game 3 19 13773 15619 1846 11.8
2019:Game 2 16 5578 21725 16147 74.3

Yes, the attendances do go down for home ground games before and after a SOO game but no where near the disastrous result of this years example.
Even if I don’t use this years very good average crowd figure, the result is still, well, disasterous.
And I started using the “away” team crowd influence and that didn’t support the view of a major effect either, that is, the teams played in these games generally have a lower than average attend at Newcastle, but why hit people when they’re down.
So the SOO is not a but, but reason for this result.
And if SOO is the only reason for the poor showing the NRL needs to send an SOS. 74% is not a but, but.
