This is well done by the AFL.

Facts are it will never end entirely, not in the next 290 years anyway. But, if the AFL were to give Eddie McGuire and Sam Newman and the countless other racists working as big influencers for the AFL then perhaps it’d be a hell of a lot less. Unfortunately slapping the punters with two year suspensions while giving AFL royalty 2 days of cultural awareness training only sends the message that it’s ok to be racist.

The AFL must do more.

When people like McChins are protected by nearly all then it sends a clear message .

The amount of peopel falling over themselves to make excuses ....oh he was tired ..he didn't mean it ..blah blah was sickening .

Hence the message that it's not that bad really to be racist towards the indigenousplayers

ADELAIDE has suspended one of its members for a racist social media post directed at Port Adelaide ruckman Paddy Ryder.

"The Adelaide Football Club has been made aware a three-game member racially vilified Port Adelaide’s Paddy Ryder via social media on Friday night," the Crows said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.

"This person's membership has been suspended indefinitely and all of their membership rights have been revoked. The club considers racial vilification to be abhorrent and disgusting, and racism has no place in our society.

"Our organisation has zero tolerance to this type of behaviour and will continue to work with industry stakeholders and community leaders to raise awareness and offer appropriate education."

Earlier on Saturday, Port Adelaide issued a statement in response to the post.

The "cowardly and ignorant comment" was the latest in a spate of racist posts made in the past few months directed towards indigenous AFL players.

Last month saw Richmond suspend a club member for two years following racist taunts of West Coast's Liam Ryan on social media, while Adelaide's Eddie Betts was the subject of another racially motivated attack in February.

Seeing as we have no where near the racism problems that AFL have ( & yes we have them ) then I concede victory to the AFL .

I think the AFL are doing a good job suspending the racists. I hope they continue without pause. I wonder what membership numbers would be like if they were able to suspend all the racist members? Prob see a drop by 15-30% in their member numbers, possibly more. But atleast the racism in crowds wouldn’t be there anymore. Going by the vast numbers booing Goodes for standing against racism the southern states could see a drop in membership numbers by around 50% if the AFL managed to suspend em all. It’ll never happen but it would be good for the game, a mass cleansing.
