NRL is down on 2007 and 2008 despite having their highest ever crowd at ANZ for a home and away game. Good Friday's 2 matches tallied 90k. The other 6 tallied 87k at 14k per game :(

Thank god for Easter Friday hey NRL fans? Those two public holiday crowds saved you from possibly the worst 4 rounds of crowds in over a decade.

3rd highest round EVER! 2nd highest round 1 total ever! How can you spin that in a negative light Julia?

And dont give me the "extra round" BS. More fans are more fans. If you dnt like it make 2 new teams. Im sure Adelaide and Perth are desperate for an NRL team

I like how you have used highest crowd number by round and not average. Total crowd numbers are always going to be up you have a extra game!!!!!!!

The AFL opening round split over 2 weeks to get better numbers is about 50th best average crowd. Down from last year ....hmmmm!!

And xman when we do expand to perth \ Adelaide of course crowd numbers per round are going to be up!! You'll be the first to bag us when we do talk it up! That's just common sense but here you are celebrating it. Lol

Down on last years 2nd best ever total by a thousand or so. hmmmmmmmm

Averages are pointless when you add a new game and your two new teams play in expansions states in stadiums that dont even fit our average crowd per game. The total counts and so it should. Extra fans are extra fans.

Look at it this way, you could own a McDonalds store which rakes in 100k a week. If you add another store 10k down the road and it only makes in 50k per week are you worse off or better off? The average would go down to 75k per week suggesting on average you're doing worse. But youre making 50% more money per week. Thats why totals count

Not really. You dont understand that once you play more games outside your heartland your total can actually drop despite playing more games. In the last 2 years the AFL have increased their number of games outside their heartland per season from about 25 to well over 50. If these 50 games average far less than your heartland crowds the extra game can drop your average and total.

On average alone its over 2011, despite including an extra game in expansion states! WOW! =D>

Meanwhile the NRL are down on 2007 and 2008 despite their highest crowd for a home and away game in Sydney for decades. Wheres the growth? Gone

Looking ahead to round 2 the AFL has only one game that could possibly draw less than 20k people (Bris v Adel, but it will still likely have 20k), and one game guaranteed to have over 80k. This is too funny.

As I said, by next week the AFL should have the highest first 2 round total ever...I wonder what Dave will do then?
