the network exs saw through PVL and co snake oil presentation and told him where to go he came back begging and whimpering!
the NRL has never been close and never will be! this has been proven in how many deals over 30 plus years
FOX saw that the NRL could be in trouble here and took full advantage of it..
the Next TV deal will have the AFL in its sights either equal or ahead.
what will you say to that ??
FOX saw that the NRL could be in trouble here and took full advantage of it..
i dont buy that crap as the AFL in that time was negotiating a the new deal also
the Next TV deal will have the AFL in its sights either equal or ahead.

i couldnt give a shit really, its amusing to respond to morons like azif and co as they seem to struggle with reality.
FTA is dead and foxtel is dying a slow death, so the new deal will be different to like we have seen before and new players will be in the mix. you wonder how many more deals Rupert has in him and how badly his successor will bid
yeah i do not really know what went on, could of been a number of things.
but was super strange TV Deal.
FTA is dying a slow death.. the only one that seems to going alright is CH9 with having STAN also.
i don't think the New Deal will be different at all.. and will be FTA with a Fox / Streaming

the only crap here spambot is the loose movement coming out of your mouth
the NRL was taken advantage of
& the extra funds saved with PVL being hood winked ... went to the biggest dud in Australian sport ... the fumbling crap show from Vicdopia
now PVL isn't dealing with foxtel this time .. those dodgy fuckers exited left stage a few months ago
This new mob will see the figures & well

FTA companies are mostly making losses or small profits with layoffs through out the year. the declining advertising money from the FTA resulting in lower business revenue is where i cant see fta paying as big a part in the deal. so where does the money come from or made up?

straight to the victim violin and insults!
so for the last 30 plus years the NRL has had dud leaders and networks continued to take advantage of the NRL while paying a lot more money for the AFL
the AFL negated a deal during that that time while they ripped PVL off at the same time the so called massiah of the NRL
the media bosses keep paying more for the AFL not the NRL!

The only change FTA could have here is to bid for all the rights , the lot .. everything.
Ch9/stan
The price tag will be over $600 PA
Im sure they will want it , DAZN will need to offer more then 400 million for STV rights to retain them & that combined with more then 200 million for the FTA rights (separated ) will push the price tag out of reach for Ch 9... the tension is there spammy
its gunna be huge

Ive floated this Idea before , & I think its still in play
DAZN could court Ch 10
tell them , we will buy the entire rights for 600 million plus , then.. you buy 3 games off us to screen on FTA ( legally required ) for what you can afford , 150 mill PA or so
we get Origin & the GF on STV simulcast with you.
done !
another bidding scenario joins the party

so its your fantasy vs some media empire exs signing billion dollar contracts, that relys on one network buying a bankrupt net work that will get the NRL rights and league will say the day! despite media networks and advertisers paying more for the AFL than NRL for over the past 30 years.
yeah, what happens in chapter 2 of this fantasy novel?

no it wasn't the same time spammy you clueless tosspot ,
PVL negotiated in 2020 , did the NRLs new 5 year deal then ... a mistake , in hindsight, he was rushed & the deal was inadequate.
402 mill pa back then , dolphins entering in 2023 got it up to 422 mill pa , & Perth entering in 2027 will get it up to around 460 mill
Adolf Mclachlan did a 2 year extension in 2020, then the record deal 2 years later in 2022, when the environment was completely different.
now
we all know AFL completely over stated the actual value of their 647 million pa deal .
it has 50 million pa in contra included , & 50 million pa from telstra who aren't even a media rights company
real deal is 547 mill pa, still the biggest ever to that point .... at the moment
the NRL will blast past 600 million for its Australian broadcasters & past 650 million with NZ in its next deal
&
they won't need an dodgy creative inclusions like derpballs
The regions biggest sport will rightfully reclaim its place as the sport that earns the most $ from media rights

Both the AFL and NRL negotiated COVID discounts in 2020 for 2020-2022.
The AFL did a 2 year media rights extenion in December 2020 for 2023-2024
Dolphins were announced October 2021.
The NRL media rights deal was extended for 5 years in december 2021. This deal includes the dolphins, it was not an addon.
A new AFL media rights deal was done in September 2022 for 7 years from 2025-2031.
we all know AFL completely over stated the actual value of their 647 million pa deal .
it has 50 million pa in contra included , & 50 million pa from telstra who aren't even a media rights company
This is assumed - and hoped - by NRL folks all over the place with zero evidence. Telstra and contra havent been announced. We only know sevens contributions as a percentage increase in 2024, and nothing at all about the rest other than the total cash in the deal is "north of 4 billion" as cited by Mclachlan at the announcement.
We'll get some exact numbers next March in the AFLs report, unlike the NRL which keeps it all hidden away. But AFL media rights have generally tracked in line with the announcements - for the 2023-2024 deal they were just 11m short of the 946m announcement from 2020.
2023 - 444.238m + 16m contra = 460.238m
2024 - 459.507m + 16m contra = 475.507m
Total 935.745m
(The 2017-2022 deal came in at 2.322b with COVID discounts, after being announced as 2.5b)
The previous 1.25b deal for 2012-2016 came in at 1.235b
