Nope you continually rant about RL in a thread that has nothing to do with it .
It's about AFL/ru sponsorship .
Yet all you talk about is RL
Lol lol lol
Even to the extent of lying about a SL war in the 80s.
So many many lols

The fact is that the Sydney Swans picked up a lucrative sponsorship in a competitive sports market.
I'm sure even rl people can understand the implications to that.

I think there is so many dollars in the sponsorship world ... and in a crowded market place like Sydney where you have 4 codes competing for that dollar then a sponsor abandoning one sport is news... then choosing one over the other 3 is significant I would think, particularly where rl is the dominant sport. But there be numerous reasons for choosing AFL over the other three. Maybe it was cheaper to sponsor the swans. Maybe greater national exposure. But I think it is a like for like as AFL has moved into the rugby union market and it is likely a focus to appeal to the north shore Chardonnay sipping crowd that saw then take on the swans.

Lots of people in bottom states watch game - in Sydney however viewership is tiny

agree. I think it may be then tapping into the rugby union folk who have left rugby union... like for like re: followers in NSW. Plus swans get plenty of press on Sydney. And are a national brand. If they were to sponsor an NRL likely not to 1 hit their target market and 2. Not get the level of national exposure. Remember, the swans is the face of AFL in Sydney too whereas if they went to an nrl club it’s one of how many clubs?

Marketing is complex.
1. Companies sometimes want to be linked to successful professional entities like the Sydney Swans
2. Companies don't want to linked negatively with Folau in ru and the various antics in rl.
3. It depends on the product. HSBC could been seen as applicable to Swans fans.
4. it depends on the market. The W.C.E have a home sponsor and an away sponsor - different target markets.
5. Marketing is just about television but bums on seats and memberships etc.
