Oh dear .
It's been posted over & over & ignored as usual .
Any expansion club wanting to join the NRL & there's plenty
Must have a viable financial model .
Must show how it can sustain itself .

Would love to see rugby league take greater risk to promote & expand game, not just here but also in northern hemisphere. It's a great product as evidenced by national success of state of origin. A lot of small time players afraid of losing share of profits holding game back.

Agreed. Nrl admin has been so risk adverse.

I do know an AFL Club is more expensive to run... (i do not care)

also i think the NRL will play it safe with expansion. #QLD side
And second Expansion will have to be solid for it to go through.
They haven’t the money!
Start of broadcast deals they have money by the end they are broke! That has happened the past two occasions!

That is why they have tried recently and the past two attempts have been disastrous with the titans and Storm

I note that Gould used the word insolvent ... I wonder if he used that word to say the clubs are struggling to make a profit or in the true sense of the word .... ala their assets do not match liabilities and capital? I am thinking the later which is more am accounting thing (balance sheet doesn’t balance) but a serious thing. A lot of business balance their balance sheet by over valuing the assets they have.

This is not the issue. Existing clubs don't want less money from the league. Next broadcast deal probably sees more money for extra game, especially if FTA wants exclusive games.

the NRL have a few cards up there sleeve in regards to expansion...

they have Heartland areas they are ripe for the picking and other areas
that have a niche and are good time zones..

They simply need to go to Perth but need to commit for 20 years minimum regardless.

The past two examples of nrlol expansion proves your point wrong!
Given that most of the clubs keep loosing money year after year even with new broadcast deals!

So wrong again as per usua
