So thus far I think we can all agree, given the data from the first six rounds, that we can safely say that the afls new rules aiming at higher scoring and “equalisation” are, well, it’s not really working is it
What data? I cant see any data :drunk:
Are you the full quid? Op has tabled data ;)

I get a funny feeling we might be in for another bumper round of low scorers this week! Stay tuned folks :compress:
To make a conclusion about the success of new rules dont you need to compare this year's results to previous years? :-k

Thanks nlol, that’s a fair request. As a long time player and observer of the code I kinda know what’s what without having to make comparisons. But I didn’t think about folk like yourself who don’t really understand so I’ll def provide some additional comparative data soon for you. No problems buddy :)

So nlol, I’ve followed up for you bro. I’ve looked up the first six rounds of last year before the Afl brought in a raft of rule changes to supposedly increase teams scoring in 2019. As i expected...It’s not a pretty comparison so please, I want you to make sure you’re well and truly in your bubble and not too exposed when you read this ok :) there’s a boy.

So I present, for all your increased knowledge, a table on the numbers of teams who can’t kick 10 measly goals each week in the Afl during the first six rounds of 2019 vs the first six rounds of 2018. I’ll update the table as weeks progress to see if all the Afl committees, time, intel *cough bullshit  and moolah has achieved the objectives they set out to achieve in 2019.

———————-2019———2018
Round 1 - 8 teams——-5 teams
Round 2 - 6 teams——-3 teams
Round 3 - 2 teams——-1 team
Round 4 - 7 teams——-5 teams
Round 5 - 6 teams——-4 teams
Round 6 - 4 teams——-4 teams

So ahhh the results are clear cut aren’t they just! there’s not one round in the 2018 comparison where there’s been more teams who failed to score more than a measly nine goals on their almost three hours of trotting around the Afl paddock.

When do you think the ‘state of the game committees’ recommmendations and the Afl commissions acceptance of them should be roundly trashed nlol?

I wonder what the channel seven boss is thinking right now?   nlol do you think I should I send him and the state of the game committee my data? :)

Jesus, did anyone watch the Adelaide v dockers match today?

Adelaide 51 - freo 34  8-[ 8-[ 8-[

I can’t say I can remember a lower scoring game in the Afl. What a BOG!

Seems like that state of the game committee and their recommendations for improving the scoring was a great Afl Initiative eh?

they made a few minor changes to gauge the impact. They probably wanted to go further but decided not to because of backlash. There'll be more to come if scoring doesnt improve

Latest update folks! Round 7 and 2019 is still shaping up to be one of the most unequal low scoring years despite the chief funder of the Afl calling for changes last, which the Afl responded to but appear to have failed. Check out the table below highlighting the amount of teams who haven’t been able to score more than a poultry 9 goals in a game , per round of footy.

Afl low scoring bog teams—————-2019———2018
———————————————Round 1 - 8 teams——-5 teams
———————————————Round 2 - 6 teams——-3 teams
———————————————Round 3 - 2 teams——-1 team
———————————————Round 4 - 7 teams——-5 teams
———————————————Round 5 - 6 teams——-4 teams
———————————————Round 6 - 4 teams——-4 teams
———————————————Round 7 - 6 teams——-1 team

I bet the channel seven boss is wondering who on earth are the clowns leading the org he’s funding right now

good data. I think it's fair to say the coaches have adapted very quickly to the 6 6 6 and kick in rule changes. It will be interesting to see if they make further changes next year.

I have a feeling the ch7 chief might not be too unhappy though given Wookie's ratings figures show an increase on last year of about 15%. Crowds are up too.

Eliagh is still struggling to understand AFL is a much more free-flowing, faster higher scoring game than RL to worry about the ratings just yet!

Hey the nlol family is babbling in concerto!

I’m sorry guys but this thread is about low scoring boys. I know you’d love it to be about the ratings. And bravo for you and the Afl on the ratings btw but I think we have a sticky thread dedicated to just that so please babble about the ratings there all you please.

So far all the afls intentions and work for more freer faster higher scoring games has eventuated in jack diddly squat, actually no, that’s not really accurate, in fact all their work on analysing discussing consulting and drafting on changes to the rules has actually eventuated in the opposite. A slower, more sluggish lower scoring games across the board!

Under completely different conditions. No Thursday night game, only 3 FTA games, more games shown concurrently. You morons think these factors dont matter but the evidence shows otherwise

For me the amount of goals scored is irrelevant. It’s the quality of the game and if you have good defence at both ends scoring goals can be a challenge. I’d rather a good game and low scoring then a crap game and high scoring free for all.
