it was Olympic Park not SFS
some of the lowest crowds over the past 3 years have been at Olympic Pk
and all in the same timeslot.
8pm Thursday Night
6pm Friday Night.
NRL are you plain dumb or just do not care.
or the fans are soft
Nah Mate..
where Olympic Park is situated
it is like a Traffic nightmare
of intersections Highways tunnels roads going north south east west..
merging into this stadium is nightmare getting in and getting out..
you can live 10km away and yet it will take you 90mins to get there..
imagen living 20km or 30km away...
that is why Thursday and Friday 6pm never works..
i think you may get the point you may not...
i will leave it there.. regarding my points.

My Bad again.
Hard to tell the difference for me.
4th lowest crowd in history at that ground.

It really is as simple as the capacity being extended when it's not an AFL game.

NRL is just better to watch in TV. AFL is better at the games. Two very different sport.

Are you saying, when the two codes were conceived, Aussie rules was and remains a better spectator Sport.
And it wasn't until tv that RL became worth watching.
Is that what you're saying platoned?

Are the Melbourne Crowds a result of Melbourne being a very, very boring place? Having nothing else to do?
Look at there ground records. Despite ten's of thousands of AFL games being played at the MCG A religious nut and his revival meeting holds the record for the largest crowd. League has played just a handful of matches at the MCG yet they have 3 of the top 20 crowds. Soccer 99 thousand and union similar.
MCG Crowd Records
- Billy Graham
- AFL
- Eucharistic Congress
- AFL
- AFL
- Soccer
- AFL
- Soccer
- Cricket
- Rugby League
- Cricket
- Rugby Union
- Cricket
- Rugby League
- Rugby League
- Soccer
- Cricket
Etihad Stadium crowd records:
- Jehovah's witness convention
- Global warming convention
- Rugby Union
- Soccer
- Rugby League
- AFL
???? Isn't this supposed to be AFL territory? Look at the Sydney grounds. All the crowd records are held by rugby league and in some cases others codes but not AFL!
Are the crowds so much higher because there's nothing to do in Melbourne?
Isn't one of the big arguments that the tv ratings gap in Sydney is far bigger?
Meaning even more people simply at home watching sport in Sydney, irrelevant to there being "something to do".
An incentive of going to an AFL game in Melbourne I guess is being able to go out and get a drink in the city after a night game.

no he is saying..
for an overall experience for the sporting public
AFL is a better viewing experience seeing it live
as you get an overall good view of play of the whole field and players movements..
where as NRL it is concentrated around the ruck and you see much more on TV
and miss alot watching it at the game..
both codes have the pro's and neg's

It's a curious thing.
Is the bits you miss the tiny knock ons, slight fumbles, strips, who touched first and stuff like that?

not so much the errors or small knock on's
more play around the ruck tackles in detail, short balls, grounding of the ball..
at the ground much of everything looks ok. until you see it on T.V
Tv Picks up attention to detail
it is like that with alot of sports, but in my opinion more so in the Rugby Codes.

I personally rather watch AFL on TV for the same reasons. Attention to detail, hard to see what's happening around the contest live. Even moreso now as our game has big congestion problems. And especially if you don't have seats on the wing, which can be hard to get. The other end of the ground is a long way away if you're behind the goals. I think it's 170 odd long at the MCG.
Though in AFL the ball can naturally swing from one end of the ground to the other, and will happen more in an game - do you think that's why it's considered better live compared to the NRL, sort of a close up more often?
When you're personally at NRL games (do you guys go?) do you think it's worse because the ball is more likely to get stuck down the other end for an extended period?
I found everything looked close at Aami Park and it makes for awesome viewing. But maybe that's because I'm used to sitting level 3 at the G.

good comment..
the issues you raised all come in to calculation..
I do attend games just not my own team but other teams.. approx 10 a year.
and i refuse to attend Olympic Pk as you are along way from the field.
the big issue in the Rugby Codes, is you can get games where there is barley any play down
one side of the field.. there are even games where no TRYS are scored one side of the ground.
can be luck of the draw on what seats you do get. to actually see the best parts of the game..
if you have got the best seats at a good ground, Rugby League is great to watch..
but they are usually to Gold Members and are taken.

So the NRL had all the Sydney clubs at their own grounds, I'm assuming they held 10-30k, where clubs liked playing and supporters liked watching.
They eventually shifted all but a couple to playing home games in a 80k seat stadium which was shit to get to. Turning away fans.
The seating is also too far away which turns away more fans which then creates a less exciting atmosphere and in turn takes away the main incentive for going in the first place.
Who the fuck was governing the NRL and are they still involved?
