After all all they have to do is fall on the ground over a line that is 68 meters long - Franklin has to kick the ball usually under pressure and as the other night showed sometimes 70 meters from goal!!!! That's almost the length of a rugby league pitch, so I went looking and found that not only have NONE even achieved half that in a season with more games in a year but also the highest of all time was Kevin Irvine with 212 back in 1973 for his ENTIRE CAREER!! How incredible pitiful are these RL players at their own game that the nearest is Steve Menzies with 180 in 2008? No wonder no one bothers to turn up to a match!

So he was pretty much the best that the world of RL could have chosen

Now for Brett Deledio's achievements:

AFL

AFL Rising Star: 2005 - which is the best debut player of that year
International Rules Series Player: 2005 - Chosen in a squad of about 30 players
AFLPA Best First-Year Player: 2005 - best dubut player in 2005
2× All-Australian: 2012, 2015 - one of the best 22 players in these years
AFLCA All-Australian team: 2015 -
Yiooken Award: 2012
2x Ian Stewart Medal: 2011, 2015
AFL Army Award: 2008

Richmond

Best First Year Player: 2005
Kevin Bartlett Medal: 2007
2× Best and Fairest: 2008, 2009
2x Jack Titus Medal: 2011, 2012
Fred Swift Medal: 2013
Maurie Fleming Medal: 2015

Richmond Vice-Captain 2013-

So basically Deledio was the best debut player of 2005, in the best 22 players in the AFL in 2012 and 2015.

Slater, best RL player in the world, best in Australia, Storm team of the decade

vs Deledio, best debut player in his first season (out of maybe 40 other debutants), one of Richmond's better players for a few years, and one of the top 22 AFL players in 2 seasons

Yeah, they are totally comparable!

LOL

Rexona challenge heavily favoured smaller athletes. None of the larger athletes like Deledio, Tuqiri, Hurst, Ling, Sailor, or Sullivan did any good.

Add to that, they had laughable "athletic challenges" like jet skiing, basketball freethrows, surfboat rowing, golf, cricket, goal kicking, dune buggy racing, etc. What a fantastic way to determine athletic ability :_<> :_<>

Season 1
Slater 178cm 89kg
Wincup ?
Deledio 188cm, 88kg
Hooker 187cm, 85kg
Symonds 187kg, ?
Tuqiri 191cm, ?
Ky Hurst 196cm, 87kg
Griffiths 181cm

Season 2
Slater 178cm 89kg
Eckstein ?
O'Connor 180cm, 88kg
Lowndes 182cm
Culina 175cm, 73kg
Ling 189cm, 94kg
Mitcham 174cm, 67kg
Sailor 191cm, ?

Season 3
Cooper 186cm
Eckstein ?
Wallace 190cm, ?
Gidley 178cm, 86kg
Sullivan 191cm, 80kg
Hodge 185cm, ?
Lapierre ?
Winterbottom ?

If you read some of the posts by pussy it seems those in times gone by did score more often - I watched a GF a couple of months ago between Paramatta and I think St.George at the SCG (80's) - it was very fast and free flowing and frequent tries, the players didn't all look like weight lifters like today. Could it be the direction of RL has resulted in lower scores and more of a dour contest?

Lol still won't compare kicking goals in. RL game to Kicking goals in a fumbleathon .

Why is that . A like v like comparison is fair .

And I said why I wouldn't firstly it's not your major form of scoring - second you kick off a plastic tee on the ground hardly the same as a drop punt!

Your mob can dribble it along the ground & as long as it goes between the giant sticks ....it's a goal .

Lol I'll give this fail thread a ONE point

Why post something that is bullshit .

which means the cross bar is effectively pointless. Unless you cant make the distance from 20m

One issue with the AFL is for set shot the player must kick over the person on the mark. A set shot from 50m needs to clear the players in the square as well so realistically it needs to travel 60m +
