The nfl positions are so specialised they have numerous diff teams in the one team. I mean they even have a role for someone to just kick the ball and do absolutely nuttin else! Hence the narrowly skilled AFL players have gotten a chance

Yes I agree you need to be an athlete to make it to the AFL vas you do to make the top level in practically all sports. But the AFL is special in that you don't also need playing experience to make it to the top, as you do in practically all sports the more i think about it the more my southern white male deformity theory becomes real. All the evidence says I'm right.

But you were arguing that ANY sportsman could make it but the fact remains this is not the case - just like NFL there are certain positions that make it easier to transition - ruck - tall basketballers have a pre-disposition but it takes years of hard work something that your giving insufficient credit for - it's just not "walking in". Many have tried and failed from the states since Mike Pike. Tag however played a similar game with similar skills sets, he still had to work his butt off and took years to get there, being a gifted athlete is not enough, in the 100+ yrs there has only been a handful who have successfully transferred, it says as much about their desire and hard work and does not indicated an easiness in playing the game. so your wrong and you know it!

they 'have' walked in and played, but that doesnt mean they were any good

Mike poke showed em all how to take contested marks. Taghe Kennelly was one of the best defenders in the game. It's funny you know, it just doesn't happen in the other codes as it does in the AFL.

Put it this way. Because the AFL is the premier marngrook comp in the world ( yes kinda funny when you put it like that ) it is like seeing year after year randoms who have grown up playing sports such as rugby league Gaelic footy rugby union basketball and making the English premier league it just doesn't fukking happen. But in the AFL it does!

I heard Anthony mundines planning on returning to the nrl. There's not a hope in hell. He's too old and lost too much muscle. But I reckon with six months training he'd easily make it into the bombers first 18

Mike Pyke averaged a staggering 9 possessions a game with a massive 2.5 marks, maybe one of which was contested. Yep, he sure showed them........

Kennelly didnt make the all-Australian team once. In fact his most notable achievement was a rising star NOMINATION.

Kennelly was never selected as an All Australian backman in any season, so your claims he was one of the best backmen is pure BS

Erm just because tadg didn't receive an all Australian selection don't mean he wasn't one of the best by a long shot

I just checked. He was injured all of 2011 but I think you'll find amateur Canadian rugby players are seen as pretty awesome when they play in the AFL.

Pyke played in all 25 games for the Swans' 2013 season. He took 52 contested marks, more than any player in the competition except Travis Cloke,[19] and he was the Swans' fourth-leading goal kicker with 28.[26] Pyke's success on the field led former Sydney coach Paul Roos to hold him out as a contender for the 2013 All-Australian team.[27] It was to be his best season.

Like I said he Showed em all how to take contested marks in 2013. And Paul Roos AFL legend thought he shoulda been an all Australian

Canadian amateur rugby union players wouldn't make the first division in any rugby league team in Sydney. But they're def a good chance of making the swans!! :_<> it's fukkin true! It's all true!!! :_<>

Mike pyke came from Canada because there was no chance for much of a career there. He waltzed into the swans got a premiership, showed the league how to lead the way in contested marks, gained the respect of AFL legends and basically became a good footy player without the need for a youth playing the game.

Tadg Kennelly came from Ireland without getting paid much for his footy there. Waltzed into the swans and earned 750k per season, such was his value to the AFL

And there's been loads of other similar examples. Facts are you def don't need a youth of playing marngrook to make it in the AFL. No no no you don't. It's just not like other pro sports in that way.
