I was just thinking the same thing.

These Aussie games that wookie is talking about on nz paytv compare very well to the ratings each of the AFL's expansion teams get roughly on fta tv in the Northern states, yet it's actually paid for from sky subscribers.

True Point that..

wonder what the Fumblers will say...
Ill remind them again.

N.Z probably contribute more tv ratings to the NRL
then NSW AND QLD do to the AFL

Total known NRL ratings on NZ Sky TV - 2,663,000 from 74 matches at an average of 36,000 (regular season)
Total known Origin + Test ratings on NZ Sky TV - 490,000 from 3 matches at an average of 163,000
Total Auckland Nines Ratings on NZ Sky TV - 1,082,000 split into 9 different broadcasts at an average of 120,000
Total other preseason matches on NZ Sky TV - 25,000 (Charity Shield, Indig. Allstars) at an average of 12,500.

Total known AFL ratings on 7mate Bris: 1,597,000 from 55 matches at an average of 29,000
Total known AFL ratings on 7mate Syd: 1,768,000 from 56 matches at an average of 32,000

32 matches share the same broadcast, leaving 14 additional Sydney and 13 additional brisbane broadcasts for a total of 59 matches over the year

Total known AFL ratings on 7mate in Syd/Bris: 3,365,000 from 59 matches at an average of 57,000
Total known NZ ratings on Sky TV in NZ: 4,260,000 from 88 matches at an average of 40,409

Inclusive of everything preseason, origin and tests to date, the NRL in NZ wins on Total, but loses on average.

Further, this doesnt include what little regionals might be in NSW and QLD, but more importantly doesnt include any Foxtel ratings for the AFL in those areas.

Thanks Wook! for the Info and stats on both codes

What does help with NSW and QLD is that they have 4 teams between the two states.
compared to 1 Home team in NZ.

Interesting.
