These Aussie games that wookie is talking about on nz paytv compare very well to the ratings each of the AFL's expansion teams get roughly on fta tv in the Northern states, yet it's actually paid for from sky subscribers.

Total known AFL ratings on 7mate Bris: 1,597,000 from 55 matches at an average of 29,000
Total known AFL ratings on 7mate Syd: 1,768,000 from 56 matches at an average of 32,000

What does help with NSW and QLD is that they have 4 teams between the two states.
compared to 1 Home team in NZ.
