Broadcast rights for the ACL and Asian Cup are held by the Asian Confederation not the FFA, so local soccer benefits not a whit. The Socceroos have massive support in this country - and thats cool - but it disasppears when they arent actually playing.

It also holds true for any sporting team especially National. How much support is there for the Australian Cricket team when they are not playing? or the Hockeyroos, or the Wallabies.

It has a massive benefit, we are a global economy, we live in a globalized world, the fact that 100 million or more people have watched the Socceroos and Australia in general over this tournament is massive.
