NRL in Sydney this week
Thursday 35 to 40K at the Ground ..... 600K on TV
another FailureDave classic
27k at the game, not 40k
508k on TV in Sydney, not 600k
All in all a pretty poor start for poor Smith, especially after his claims RL would be number one in Australia within 4 years
818K all up in the metros
550K in the regionals
a tidy 1.368 Million on a Thursday night
something similar is expected tonight .... a slight rise on 2013's opening games in rnd 1
wonder if the fumbles & bumbles opener will top this
I
think not folks

Almost 100k down on last year.
NRL in decline for both TV and crowds

It'll still be a 100K more then the fumbles & bumbles opener though eh dickhead ?

Still making predictions Dave? Have you ever been right? :_<>
should I bring out the thread about the first swines midgets crowd ?
your effort in that deserves a mention
how bout the Prelim Finals for 2012 In Sydney

the wrongness of fumblers is an institution on these pages

eh, 2013 to 2014 numbers isn't the best comparison.
i'd prefer 2011, 12 13 and 14 numbers to see a trend properly. last year would have been inflated a lot by the SBW effect, first game back in league was hyped up quite a lot. also this game was delayed into QLD which would have easily added in 50-100k in qld.
another factor is the rise of digital streaming which came in properly last year. Personally, i'll be watching the majority of games on my tablet now (unless im at the game) because $9 a month is far better than BS foxtel subscriptions or ch 9. it totalled around $150 million in the last broadcast deal, and its extremely popular this season in my experience. i'd expect that to more than double in the next deal.

Yet Swans with 32200 members and 28k home average, revenue, sponsorship and four years in a row of profits are still CLEARLY the biggest club in Sydney - hahaha now tell me about the jetsons isn't that your usual reply?

I must admit that while there were apparently 1.3 million people watching on television (including my good self) there were only 18K at the game last night. I was obviously disappointed but not really surprised at our loss 12-18. It was a good game and it was a shame that we couldn't stop the match winning try for the Broncos.
This doesn't auger well in the crowd sense for the game at Brookvale tonight.
