In 1981 Australia's New South Wales Rugby Football League introduced the use of the sin bin and that year Newtown Jets hooker Barry Jensen became the first player sent to it.[4] Use of a sin bin was introduced to rugby union in 2001.[5]
I'm seeking a source, but I'm 99 percent sure that junior AFL had the sin bin before that.

1895 - Threatened with expulsion from the RFU if they cannot prove their amateurism, 21 leading Lancashire and Yorkshire clubs meet at the George Hotel, Huddersfield on 29 August 1895. They vote unanimously to form the Northern Rugby Football Union (NU) and allow broken-time payments.

1907 - Rugby league spreads to Australia and New Zealand. First New Zealand side, organised by A.H. Baskerville, tours Britain

1921 - Harold Buck becomes the game’s first £1,000 transfer when he moves from Hunslet to Leeds. Featherstone Rovers become a professional team.
Semi Pro okay - AFL was 1897.

Fully Pro - UH UH! I'm searching for a source at present (it might not be online) but the VFL abolished it's amateur status entirely in 1912!!
FFS, look up amateur vs professional rugby dimwit.

Here's a hint, one was union and the other was?????????????
Double dimwit, you gave no evidence of fully professional until 1921! In the then VFL it was 1912, after the game was rocked by match fixing scandals in 1910 so they had to go fully pro to prevent that!!
What?

It said he joined the professional club called Featherstone, do you think they decided to go pro at that time just because he turned up, or do you think they may have been (and they were) fully pro before then.

Fmd you are dumb.

Fisher, who scored a try in that 1936 match, did indeed catch the eye and it’s understood that Brough, the Great Britain captain, said Fisher was the best country player he’d seen on tour. Brough was then behind Fisher being offered a contract to play for Salford in England. Fisher needed permission to leave Cherbourg and also to apply for a passport. According to Colin Tatz in his book Obstacle Race, Aboriginal authorities refused, saying that one Aboriginal star from Cherbourg (Gilbert) was enough.
1936 huh? Try 1932 for AFL buster!
DOUGLAS NICHOLLS
In 1932 Nicholls joined the Fitzroy Football Club. Anticipating a reprise of the racism he had experienced at Carlton, he sat by himself in the change rooms at Brunswick Street but was welcomed and befriended by Haydn Bunton, snr. In 1934 he was third in the Brownlow Medal count. In 1935, he was the first Aboriginal player to be selected to play for the Victorian interstate team. Knee injuries forced him to retire in 1939 and he was back at Northcote as a non-playing coach in 1940.

Wtf, he didn't travel and play in England you fucking dope.

Aboriginals have played RL since it began out here you fucking fruit and what you just posted had nothing at all to do with the question.

FAIL.
That wasn't the question, idiot! It was who played elite level first, not who travelled first!!

The AFL and vfl do not and have not ever had a sinbin or send off rule, it's your bloody sport and you don't even know that, I do, and I can't stand the sport.

No you are dumb because you gave no evidence that they were pro before then, only then (1921). Let's have earlier example if it was before then to prove your point. And make sure it's BEFORE 1912!

Bullshit. They've had it in the rules for years - decades even! Just because we don't have it at the top level doesn't mean it doesn't exist at all in the game of AFL!!

In England.

1948 - First televised RL match, Wigan versus Bradford cup final, broadcast to the Midlands.

In Australia

http://www.nrl.com/nrlhq/referencecentr ... fault.aspx

Radio 1924: First radio broadcast of Rugby League.

1961: Rugby League's first televised game, (Balmain v Norths). First Rugby League Sevens tournament played.

1967: Live telecast on all four channels of Souths v Canterbury Grand Final.
First radio coverage of the VFL - trying to find a source but I'm pretty sure it was the same year so we're down to dates on that one.

First televised game - I know I saw a replay of the 1960 VFL preliminary final between Collingwood and Fitzroy, and there was some before that as well.

First live GF - 1967 as well. The VFA Grand Final between Dandenong and Port Melbourne and part of the season was also beamed out live!

Could I have the name of the first person to be sent off in a vfl or AFL game please?

Oh, and one more thing, the send off rule is not the sin bin dopey, send off means you can not come back onto the pitch at any time.

In Rugby League, the sin bin means after 5 or 10 mins, (the ref used to be able to put ppl in the bin for either 5 or 10 minutes, these days it's 10 minutes) you are free to rejoin the game, so no, you are wrong, very very wrong.

You don't understand as usual the difference between sent off and sin bin :_<>

It doesn't matter because Australia didn't even have TV in 1948, and AFL wasn't being played in England then anyway.

All four channels? I call BS on that.
