Why? It was a simple historical remark with relevance then.
It doesn't have that much relevance now except to say that rl is till contained behind their line whilst AFL has made some significant inroads inside the line.

yes
after 30 years & being the defending premiers throughout 2013 &.... one of the most consistently successful sides in the last 10 years
the SWines can still barely attract 100K TV veiwers to a GF qualifier in Sydney which would be the biggest game of the year

that's the only significant thing to consider here twat

They go to the games! Which is more than I can say for NRL fans except on the rare occasion!
THAT is significant!

I think that the swans have a presence is what matters... People know Aussie rules football in Sydney, it does get in the media, and has more than a niche market. It's a win win

AFL has 5 leagues in Sydney .... Five ... That's pretty significant I think. The have the highest average attendance across the season in Sydney, bigger than soccer and nrl and netball, that's fairly significant. Is AFL the big sport in Sydney.... Not by a long shot .... Does it have a significant presence ... It certainly does . Only a cool would deny this .....
Enter stage left ...,.

You haven't proved it. I played league in canberra, I live in canberra. The only way the AFL has a chance of harming rugby league/union territory of canberra is to establish an AFL team. Until that day, the rugby codes are still at the top.

From the outside looking in it would appear the rugby codes are the main winter sport in Canberra. It is fairly insignificant re marketing however and can't see the AFL having a team there. The nrl and union can as they are small enough to do so... I would think AFL is far too big and Canberra just wouldn't cut it. Hence why no tassie team. That's why the nrl can put teams in Townsville and Canberra where as the AFL use these type of towns as a spoke for clubs to promote the game .

yes indeed Jacky me boy
the fumbles & bumbles is last ... by a long way in the ACT region in terms of participation in the football codes
Soccer is the biggest
League next
Union third
Fumbles N bumbles ... way ... way off in the distance
but hold the phone ............

RL's acquisition of touch football ............. just put it FIRST for participation numbers .... in the ACT =D> =D> =D> =D>

& first overall in Australia as well

Does aquiring another sport automatically give you the numbers of that sport ? That's amazing.
