The west is not yet close to being won for the Brisbane Lions. But their bold move into rugby league country represents a decent enough start for a football club that has experienced the most emotionally erratic of weeks.
It was on Tuesday night the club was trying to deal with the fallout of the sudden axing of coach Michael Voss, who stepped down immediately after being told he was not wanted next season.
Just two days later, still sans coach but with prospects apparently on the horizon, the Lions were gazing over their new kingdom in Springfield, a masterplanned community west of Brisbane that will be their new home from 2016.
There were politicians and ministers and spin doctors on hand as Brisbane chairman Angus Johnson revealed a $15 million federal contribution to his club's new training and administration base.
It's a significant pledge for a facility that Johnson believes will surpass any AFL club in the nation and be on par, or better, than football giant AC Milan or some of the leading NFL franchises.
The pledge from the Labor government was made before it went into caretaker mode and Regional Australia Minister Catherine King has urged a Coalition government to honour that pledge should it win office.
But there are no guarantees. Ballymore was slated for a $25 million slice of federal funds as part of an upgrade that would have turned it into a first-class centre of excellence. But that was slashed in 2008, leaving Queensland rugby administrators with a half million dollar bill.
The first phase will cost $60 million on land leased for 99 years and will feature an MCG-sized oval, lighting suitable for NAB Cup games and a gym, pool, medical facilities, education centre, admin facilities and player lounge.
The great irony is that Voss had longed cried out for new facilities as the ageing Gabba, which will still host home games, fell further and further behind the AFL benchmark.
The move to Springfield is a pivotal shift in focus for the Lions as they seek to tap into one of the fastest-expanding regions in Australia.

And while they source players from all over Australia through the draft, the area west of Brisbane through Ipswich and Logan has become one of the most hotly contested recruiting hotspots in the nation for a variety of football codes.
Johnson said he was aware that rugby league was the key code in the area but wasn't frightened of setting up shop right in the middle of the battleground.
"It is rugby league heartland. But there's room for everybody. We love the game of rugby league but we can all live out here together," Johnson said.
"We draw players from throughout Australia through the draft but we will have our Lions academy based here. Given the growth profile of this area, I've absolutely no doubt we'll be seeing people from here on our list and playing for the Brisbane Lions."
Johnson said the new base was the product of extensive research from around the AFL and the world, with the Lions football department searching far and wide for ideas.
"We've been designing our facility over the past 12-18 months. We've had a look at the facilities and it will be cutting edge. We're talking about a world-class facility," Johnson said.
"We've had football department staff in Europe and the US looking at facilities, including AC Milan and some of the leading NFL clubs.
"I'm not sure everybody will appreciate what a significant day this is. This is a significant day not only for the Brisbane Lions but for Australian Rules Football since we've been playing in Queensland, which is well over 100 years."
Springfield was preferred over the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre, which hosted the 1982 Commonwealth Games and the Brisbane Broncos in the 1990s, despite lacking the same proximity to the city.
