No. That was the point. "look at me. Look at me". They deliberately did that to establish the club. Izzy was always going to return to RL. The fact he is doing it now really benefits the Giants. They are now in a perfect position to pick Tippett in the draft.

He clearly left because he struggled to make the grade and found it difficult to stay committed to the hard work he was required to do. He also stated he had great respect for the game and the players, and increased his endurance significantly.

It wont matter if people in Sydney dont know who Tippett is. When they start winning many will know soon enough.

Here's what he actually said:

I've also improved my kicking and marking skills dramatically, which will definitely help when I make the move back to either rugby league or rugby union.

The passion wasn't there and I couldn't go on.
I told them how much I enjoyed the last couple of years playing with them, and thanked the coaching staff for all they've done for me.

I will definitely be supporting my mates and you'll probably see me around at a couple of games. Two years on I leave the AFL with a real respect for all the players who play the game.
There will be a lot of great friendships I'll take with me as well as memories.
The one that stands out will be the Giants' first ever win over the Suns in Canberra.
They have a big future here in Sydney's west. There's a lot of great players coming through like Adam Treloar and Jeremy Cameron.
I think in five years' time the team will be at the top of the AFL ladder.
