I can almost guarentee there will be cuts.
The minimum would be cutting production costs (less cameras)
They could re-negoiate the nrl contract.
They could break up ch9 and then different stations would not be obligated to show nrl.
I don't see any upside,
.

What a bunch of numbnuts you AFL mob are.

The financial situation with cannel 9 was not that it was not a profitable organization it was around the terms of repayments for the loans that where secured to purchase it. The hedgefunds that now have ownership do not have any loans to repay.

I saw somewhere that channel 9 is expected to make a profit of around 250mil this next year and is traveling along nicely. 250mil against the asset value of the nine network is a nice return in any business.

If anything, the change of ownership at channel nine has made the network stronger and due to its expected revenue makes it a valuable money earner for the new owners, not one they are expected to dispose of any time in the near future.

Yes the AFL and NRL probably will lose money for 7 and 9 but they do attract a following to the stations and that is why they are a valuable part of overall programming. The NRL will be bigger and better in 2013 and onwards.
