A sell out means there is no more tickets for sale stupid! Whether the crowd achieves capacity is irrelevant.
What part of that very simple fact can't you understand?

XMAN give it a break. Given that Beaussie suggested that there was a sellout and it was posted on the 17th and they had just come back from perth, I am guessing it was for the Sk Kilda game. If the capacity is 33 odd K at the SGc at the moment and 26,834 fans turned up, it is well short of a sellout. I am sure that is well short of a few member not tuning up. That is 6266 member not turning up by your logic, basically 20% of the total crowd required for a sellout crowd, so give it a rest. Beaussie was wrong, it is very simple he went quite as he knew he was pulling **** out of you know what, but won't admit it and you then he leaves it to you to try and come to his defence and then leave you out to dry and look stupid. Very noble of you

20% is quite normal, the MCG often gets a bit over 80K for a sellout, however generally if a newspaper prints its a sellout which I linked and another newspaper prints 1000 tickets to sell with 3 days to go before we are sold out I will go with their assessment. The other thing I ahve yet to see is the actual capacity of the SCG. All I have really seen is speculation. Ive seen assessments from 35-30K, sometimes is it hard to estimate the capacity when works are being done.

I heard the Brits told the world that the Olympic games was a sellout, did you guys see all the vacant seating on Tele....
So it looks like the Brits and the AFL have the same idea on what a sellout really is..

Another fool who doesn't understand a sellout means available tickets have "sold out"!

The NRL will start to have similar issues over the next 10 year with increase in membership and stadiums being sold out more. Its an unfortunate side effect of the season ticket holder system. RL in OZ hasn't really experienced it yet but it will.

Looks like a raiders game, plus the ground is double the size. Yet the raiders claim 10,001 almost ever time.
There'd be 7k minimum.

You'd know. Your code specialises in creative accounting.

Yeah justa I flipped to the game to see how it was going and i would have thought maybe 1/10 of the seats where taken, it would be interesting to see what the "official" numbers say.

6000 crowd? there is absolutely no chance there was 6000 at that ground. 2000 people there at the absolute maximum, no exaggeration. And all of them got free tickets. Anyone who actually pays money to go to a giants game is a mug. You pay for it enough in boredom.
Now it is obvious to even blind freddy that they are fudging numbers and giving away a shit tone of free tickets....
The talk around the town is the AFL are leaving free game day tickets on Car's at NRL games...
Really great tactic, but AFL as a brand in Sydney will continue to struggle to get People to the games. All you have to do is rock up to ANZ Stadium for a dogs or Rabitohs game and go to the car parks and grab some free tickets of peoples win shields complementary of the AFL.

Again, if you divide the ground in to 4 quarters you could easily account for 1500 people in each quarter.
Creative crowd figures is an NRL thing. Don't accuse other codes of your own codes standards

Call me a cynic but I dont really buy into the whole creative crowd figure thing. That goes for both sports. Mistakes have been made and teams and officals have been counted at times. I dont really see the point of a code or a team lying about a crowd figure. Theres no real reason to do so.

You would have thought that with the Swans away this weekend some of the diehard 1,000,000 Swans fans (predominantly in Sydney you would expect) hard up for a game of AFL would have made their way to Scoda, I guess not.
