No. Previous AFL GFs, involving teams from more than one city, have rated higher than this years SOO, despite not being shown in prime time. Therefore it is yet to be seen whether this years SOO will rate higher, especially since Adelaide, Sydney and WC are performing well.

So there you go folks More than half a million fans more and this, only occurring when the very fickle but large marngrook sydney audience tunes in in 2005 for the first swans GF chance in some time (note the fickleness of those sydney supporters as it seems many didnt bother to watch another GF with syd involved in 2006 ) If the regionals were added and the fickleness of sydney's chardonnay sipping/"i only watch marngrook when syd makes a GF but for god's sake not if its 2 years in a row" is subtracted I'd say more than 2 million Australian families prefer loving RL on its grandest stage than marngrook fans!

The 3.91 figure is including regionals.

The State of Origin opener, which was played in Melbourne, attracted 2.515 million viewers in the metropolitan markets, which is the best ever audience for a State of Origin game.
The audience peaked at 2.843 million and a further 1.4 million viewers watched the game according to the regional figures.

AFL GFs in 2005 and 2006 are well over 4m with regionals included.

They easily eclipse this record SOO rating, despite being shown outside primetime. =D>
