If NSW can win Game 2, a bet my house that game 3 will rate in the 4 million bracket easy. :D

No. Previous AFL GFs, involving teams from more than one city, have rated higher than this years SOO, despite not being shown in prime time. Therefore it is yet to be seen whether this years SOO will rate higher, especially since Adelaide, Sydney and WC are performing well.

Sorry Xman but as i've said a hundred times in here the cold hard figures prove you wrong. Look below. What is wrong with you! And these ratings dont even include the regionals, which we all know RL smashes marngrook in, especially on its greatest stage. :D

The list below is the top ten most watched broadcasts in Australia since 2001. These figures represents the Five Metro Capital audience (Syd-Mel-Bris-Per-Ade) and don't include regional figures.
1 2005 Australian Open - Men's Singles Final: Marat Safin def. Lleyton Hewitt 4,045,000 2005 Seven Network
2 2003 Rugby World Cup Final 4,016,000 2003 Seven Network
3 MasterChef Australia (season 2) - finale challenge 3,962,000 25 July 2010 Network Ten
4 2012 State of Origin series Game 1 (New South Wales v Queensland) 3,957,000 2012 Nine Network
5 MasterChef Australia (season 1) - winners announcement 3,560,000 19 July 2009 Network Ten
6 2006 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony 3,560,000 2006 Nine Network
7 2005 AFL Grand Final (Sydney Swans v West Coast Eagles) 3,386,000 2005 Network Ten
8 Australian Idol: The final verdict 3,344,000 2004 Network Ten
9 Masterchef Australia: Finale night 3,313,000 19 July 2009 Network Ten
10 Australian Idol: The final verdict 3,330,000 2006 Network Ten

So there you go folks :\: More than half a million fans more and this, only occurring when the very fickle but large marngrook sydney audience tunes in in 2005 for the first swans GF chance in some time (note the fickleness of those sydney supporters as it seems many didnt bother to watch another GF with syd involved in 2006  ) If the regionals were added and the fickleness of sydney's chardonnay sipping/"i only watch marngrook when syd makes a GF but for god's sake not if its 2 years in a row" is subtracted I'd say more than 2 million Australian families prefer loving RL on its grandest stage than marngrook fans! :\:

And the evidence is oh so clear.

Please folks, try to ignore the methane ol baked bean brain Xman will waft across the page in his next post. Asides from having a bakedbeanbrain, the poor buggers noggin is all twisted up with bitterness at the clear love Aussie families have for RL above marngrook, on their greatest stage :D

Think about your figures and then give yourself an uppercut for being a moron! Then once you get up tell me what's wrong with your claim.

Then where would such a figure come from? Whether its metro only or not, the sum is mammoth and gives your AFL gf's a whallopin which you simply wont admit.

Now go on! Git on back to watchin tv programs you dont like. Go-oooonnn! Git back on that couch over there and watch your shows!

A real doosy this one folks, keep it at arms length.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

Epic brain fart there KE!

Thanks for the entertainment!

The 3.91 figure is including regionals.
The State of Origin opener, which was played in Melbourne, attracted 2.515 million viewers in the metropolitan markets, which is the best ever audience for a State of Origin game.
The audience peaked at 2.843 million and a further 1.4 million viewers watched the game according to the regional figures.
Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/ ... z1wLEb83Pu

2.515 m + 1.4m=3.91m

AFL GFs in 2005 and 2006 are well over 4m with regionals included.

They easily eclipse this record SOO rating, despite being shown outside primetime. =D>

Im sorry KE but X man has you covered on this one. Your comparing a metro only AFL GF (2005, 2006) with metro and regional SOO figures. Even Eldiablo recently stated on LU that the AFL grandfinal in 2005 was the biggest football ratings show to date. Everyone makes mistakes.

This is what Dan26 said the total ratings were on BF in 2005.

2005 AFL Grand Final: Sydney vs West Coast
Sydney: 991,000 (peak 1,230,000)
Perth: 514,000 (peak 570,000)
Melbourne: 1,230,000 (peak 1,367,000)
Adelaide: 314,000 (peak 406,000)
Brisbane: 342,000 (peak 425,000)
NNSW: 239,000
SNSW: 230,000
Reg.Qld: 177,000
Reg.Vic: 264,000
Tas: 148,000

Total Average audience: 4,449,000

Total Peak audience: 5,250,000

The official peak audience is unknown, but the 5-capital cities averaged 3,391,000 and peaked at 3,998,000 (average was 85% of the peak), so the total audience with regionals avergaing 4,449,000, should peak at 5,250,000.

Not sure where he got his information from but it looks about right to me.
