Newcastle still get crowds to games down there, not everyone like the Knights.

Newtown used to get crowds of up to 2000 in the NSW Cup a few years back
certainly to their clashes for the Frank Hyde Cup with Norths & Balmain

I remember Shell Harbour got 7,000 to a Jim Beam Cup game when Wendell Sailor played for them

lots of good support at the tiers below the NRL
