Higher crowds than any Sydney RL team. Massive sponsorship.
I'd say their doing fine in a foreign and often hostile market.
They're jokes ...the only team in a city of 5 million & they can barely half fill the SCG
can barely get 1 in 60 Sydneysiders to be even bothered to push a button on a remote to watch them on TV
massive sponsorship ... yet can barely turn a profit.
&
these unimpressive above results in decline despite being a pretty succesful outfit on the field
after all the money the AFL has spent on their game in NSW... this is what they got.
its been a disaster .. an utter failure
the addition of GWS will only add to the folly ... watering down support even further.
Higher crowds than EVERY Sydney RL team. More members than EVERY Sydney RL team.
It hurts doesn't it?!

25K at games for the Swans & falling .. about the Sharks n Penrith put together
155K at games for the 9 NRL clubs in Sydney
more then 6 times as many
close ... no
25K members & falling ( actually ... just 18K in Sydney /NSW) for the Swans .. the other 7K outside of NSW
115K members for the 9 NRL clubs in Sydney
nearly 5 times as many
close
no
hurts doesn't it ?

Sounds great.
The swans on there own are 1/6th the NRL in Sydney with 9 teams. The NRL have been there over 100 years. The swans just 30!
Cool!

Let's compare these figures to storm in Melbourne:
In 2011 the storm finished 3rd and had 171k attendance to H&A games plus 11.8k members
In 2011 the Melbourne AFL teams had 4.3 million attendance to H&A games plus 430k members
Therefore the Storm have 1/25th the attendance of AFL in Melbourne and 1/35th the membership
I'd say the swans at 1/5th and 1/6th is looking f'ing outstanding!!
Cheers Raider. You've made my day! =D>

Nice one Xman. =D>
I also wonder when the day will come that the Storm can attract crowds of 70k+ in Melbourne like the Swans have proven they can in Sydney. Highly unlikely for the Storm I know.

Regularly ?
the SCG had a capacity of 50K in the late 80's
so this is what they drew eh ?
averaged maybe ?
hmmmmm lets see
biggest crowd I can see for the Swans in this period was 39,760 in 1986
that didn't fill the SCG then or would it fill Etihad now
