No it's embarassing for Parramatta, given that it's supposed to be on their doorstep. If the locals truly supported the Eels they would be averaging twice that number at ANZ.

And if it true is then the Eels are more popular than the swans simply because more people are watching them. There's no arguing this really.
As I've said numerous times before, aussie rules as a sport is much more suited to viewing live at the ground. It is simply too big for television. The televised games are basically the reason there are so many nicnames for aussie rules like aerial ping pong and 'like a bunch of seagulls fighting over a chip'. It looks increwdibly messy and is just not that enjoyable on the tele. LEague on the other hand? Well the tv ratings tell the picture there. 4 games over 3 million to AFL's 1.
E .. the Parramatta Toyota cup side gets more veiwers then the Swans
& I'm sorry but Sydneysiders are finding giggleball is s.hit regardless of where you're watching it
on TV , or at the game ... as they are abandoning it it droves

seeing as they are the only side in town shouldn't it be anywhere in Sydney ?
or are Swans fans what we've always thought they were .... chardonnay sipping .. latte drinking knobs from the Eastern Suburbs ?

I disagree, there is a big difference between watching something on TV and going to the game and parting with your hard earned cash to support your club. A real fan will pay to watch his team, where as a TV "viewer" is most likely just someone who cant afford to do anything better. A great example of this is when State of Origin the supposedly highest league event in the world lost in TV ratings to Master Chef. There is no way to prove that those 450,000 people watching are parra fans let alone league fans. Most likely just bored poor people.

The Swans doorstep is in South Melbourne. That's why the average attendance for the Swans in Sydney is so impressive.

the Chardonay sipping gibberers from the eastern suburbs will go back to polo & bridge games to keep them amused

& tell me what does it say about your sport if someone won't even push a button on a remote to watch it ?
they'd choose anything ..... anything instead of your sport ?
this is AFL in NSW & QLD
people don't have to watch a sport on TV
they choose to if they are interested .... those 450K are League fans .... most fans of the 2 sides playing
if they weren't they'd watch something else
like they do where giggleball is concerned

Check the tv ratings on this site. The AFL absolutely smashes the NRL week after week, season after season. NRL supporters obviously avoid looking at the totals for each round for obvious reasons.
