I'm thinking 7 would be pretty please with that

Good results for the AFL. It's funny to see how they match up against the nRL when it's like for like programming..

Last week AFL 8th v 15th (poor match) rated over 1 million
This week NRL 11th v 13th close match maybe 900K

It's more about the poor Brisbane ratings due to the lack of a Qld team

Wow 2nd that's worse and the eels are 11th not second last (i was thinking dragons, but I'm not a big time NRL supporter). It was a close game as well. Love the way you fuck up every time you get upset. 2nd v 11th and 900k close match, AFL 8th vs 15th and it was over quickly 1 million +. If just goes to show that a Qld team is needed to get the NRL ratings up there, the Sydney ratings were pretty normal.

2 nsw teams are always going to struggle to get big ratings in Qld unless its a top notch game. It's just that simple. Most of your Friday night games rate closer to 1.1 million due to the excellent Qld ratings.

Brisbane is usually around 280k for a broncos game and I have seen them commonly over 300k up to about 350k.
For Fridays game the Brisbane market was at 188k so missing at least 100k up to 150k.

The Sydney market was also down and it is usually around 380k and can get to maybe 430k. It was at 331k so down about 50k possibly up to 100k for a real block buster. this might be like you say because of the miss match. But most of the missing ratings i would say would be because of no broncos game and possibly origin hang over. Shit happens mate there will always be fluctuations.

you great goose!

ThinkTV don't show all regional markets, only the eastern sea board fwit

Furthermore, I never said the total was on 7, only that 7 would be happy with a metro total of near 800k with 3 cities on 7mate.

Exactly. The NRL have had a flexible schedule for years and benefited by adjusting the Friday games so they were always an interesting contest. This year they have a fixed schedule like the AFL, and like the AFL they will end up with some poor games on fn. of course they did this to encourage crowds, which are barely up on last year.

Be interesting to see all of the Sydney foxtel ratings. You would think the Sydney market would have totalled about 130k. With probably 200k in NSW.

The NRL competiton and the AFL's are poles apart . The ARL is not as predictable a competition as the AFL. You can't look at the teams pre-season and no which sides will do well . Nor do they ban 1/3 of there teams from playing in the Friday timeslot. In 2010 Easts, Canberra, Titans and Penrith fought out the finals. In 2011 they were at the other end of the table.

In previous years it was picked on a 10/10/6 week schedule, it does need to revert to that.

To predict which teams will do well in the AFL is hard as well, preseason flag favourites the eagles are struggling and last years second placed crows are at the bottom end, both have been given plenty of friday nights. Teams given three Friday night games each such as stkilda and north are right near the bottom. I can only think of 4 teams that don't get a Friday night spot but with only 22 Friday night games it was happens every year. The NRL has 45+ Friday/Thursday night games and the raiders for sure miss out, despite making the second round of the finals last year. Even when you do normally have a bad game in Sydney you usually have the broncos televised into Qld to make up for it. The AFL has a third or more bad match ups on Friday night. The NRL has a lot less then this.

When the broncos have not been involved in Friday night (5 times) the ratings are generally poor in Brisbane. Here are the ratings
round 13 bris 188k,
round 12 bris 187k,
round 7 260k,
round 9 245k
and round 3 200k,

for an average of 216k.

The broncos rated from about 250 to 350kin brisbane. So what do you think?

I don't know which games are live and which games are delayed. Two Sydney teams usually rate well .The main problem being the matches being selected. The previous 4 weeks have seen last placed West tigers on 3 occassions, then the 2nd last (now last) paced team.
