Friday night football NRL Vs Friday night football AFL, one on one,AFL wins ratings with a top twenty rating around 5 or 6. NRL sometimes scrapes in top twenty at around 17, but often misses.
Add regional and foxtel figures and AFL ahead in pure number crunching.
AFL nine games average 161k includes some very weak matches bringing average down.
NRL 4 game average of 224k would plummet over an eight game average that included weak matches to a generous guess of about 140k.

To increase the AFL spectacle , stop flooding back or forward lines, for example once a forward or back player has crossed over the centre line during a passage of play he must then return to his zone after he has kicked or handpassed the ball. A back or forward player cannot park in the opposite end of the ground.
Ugly ball disposals need to be penalized, these include kicking the ball whilst slung to the ground and messy uncoventional handpasses, these things are now common as the pace has increased too much.
Just some ideas !

What data are you using for your 'more than ever' and 'less than ever' claims?
Data not accessible down your way. Us northerners refer to it as common sense
by saying 'ever' you're comparing to every season ever. So prove it

Worner explained that the ratings had been lower, in part because they had been significantly higher last year compared with 2016 due to an "incredible number'' of close games, while the clash with the Commonwealth Games and Royal Wedding - which had massive ratings - had further dented AFL numbers.

I guess when you desperate enough you will take anything you can get. Even a win during the origin period must sound good to you bubble dwellers.

7 mate is included in those figures.

your origin period excuse is a shocker. If fans turn off when a few stars from each team are missing they're pea hearts. Richmond were missing their best player and brownlow medalist last night, as well as a few other big name players. Cant I use that as an excuse too?

So when we compare like for like with Friday night football, the AFL dominates? This despite ratings being down and all the doom and gloom about the game being reported? Wow
