If that is the case it would not be 250-400k

Your being way to generous for regional WA, Tas, more like 250 max

NSW/QLD are larger areas then tas and Regional Tas put together, no way would that be above 250 including 7mate. Don't forget Fox counts regional also so that would lesson those figure even more.

Great comparison

Less FTA coverage, less games and no simulcasting and yet right along side them in round 1.

Good analysis, I'm not sure about the 6 games in Adelaide etc they miss out on other games, to see their local teams. The 6.1 million looks about right, would this include WA regionals and Tasmania ratings?

I don't have access to any AFL regionals . I usued 1/3 the metro totals, I think thats more than generous.

Melbourne only gets 3 live matches. 1 is delayed ( Saturday arvo game is never live into melbourne)

The main difference is that AFL have 1 extra match which is live. Would an extra live match with 2 new franchises rate an extra million in the NRL say on Saturday night? That would be the biggest ball park figure. So at best it would be a draw to the NRL.

A draw in your dreams Pies.

That 1 extra Live game would be enough to take the lead.

If the NRL got anything like what the AFL has in coverage it would be a massacre, also add in simulcast and i would actually start to feel sorry for you lot.....

All that coverage and all Nine has to do is add one more Live FTA game to bridge any gap.

No we do not need an extra game,

No we do not need simulcast,

Just 3 Live games a week for the whole year and the AFL is Gggggggoooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeee........

Week 1 was spread over 2 weekends and according to the AFL's broadcast guide, Melbournes 4 matches were live.

FTA especially weeknights seem to contribute most to the ratings. The AFL had 3 FTA games on weeknights in round 1. Th, Fri and monday night.

The NRL had just the 2 games on weeknights. Add another game - A weeknight & live, it would get over a million for sure.

Here are my estimates if we got 97K for Sydney and Brisbane we would get a similar amount for the rest of NSW and Qld. The rest of NSW likes our game more then Sydney so this makes up for the smaller numbers and regional Qld is about the same numbers as the Brisbane/Goldcoast area. So thats 200K for Qld and NSW (inc 97K for Sydney and Brisbane). Tasmania would be 75K and regional WA would be about 50K those are conservative numbers.I wont count diary areas. Lets say between 300-325K total.
Thats about 1.75K which is slightly less then last year.

Lets say you do a Saturday live match. The ratings wont be the same as friday night you will get about 800K for this match live. The audience is less.

They also had,

Th. Carlton v Rich (all markets, perth on 7mate),
Fri Crows v Essendon (all markets, perth on 7mate),
Mon Hawks v Geelong (all markets)

You also had other matches shown into Perth & Adelaide. which is quiet a bit more FTA coverage then we had.

Did this include the NZ ratings?

You had thursday and friday which I guess you could say is the same. Although our friday game started at 8.30pm so not quite as kid friendly and Perth was live at 5.30/6.30 pm for these two games on 7mate which confused many. One of your games was delayed into Qld is that right?
Overall you could argue that NRL round 1 was better although AFL's numbers were bigger.

AFL round 4 had an even bigger rating, mainly due to ANZAC day. How did your ANZAC day round go for ratings?
