FInally good to see the NRL get a Big Sydney Team Match up.. this saturday between Souths v St George.

there has been very little of these Big Match up's in the NRL over the past 5 years.

the recent big match up i can recall was Souths v Roosters PRE LIM 2014

either way NRL is Guaranteed another 1 in the PRE LIM with the winner vs Roosters.

When you say the AFL has been lucky in this department, I agree only to an extent. There's been big clubs lurking about but it could be much bigger.

The traditional big 4 have not had a great run in recent years. Richmond rose last year to become clearly the 2nd biggest club. They were rubbish for a long time beforehand.

Hawthorns extended period of success and quality governance has probably lifted them into this group in place of Carlton. I think temporarily, if Carlton get their shit together.

Carlton have been a rabble for over 15 years now and Essendon was absolutely torn apart. I think some have forgotten how big Essendon were. Watch their enormous fan bases lift massively with success.

It was 7 degrees and raining. If this was in Sydney and NRL last nights final wouldnt have drawn 1/4 of what it did.

All up to the corporates I'd have to think. I can't imagine a bigger game than this outside a GF though. These 2 haven't played eachother in a final since 1980 - every single seat should be snapped up. Would love to see it crack 100k but not sure if the capacity is even that high anymore.

the crowds at the MCG for the finals period.

just not nationally but Globally in world sport.

(funny cause the chance NRL gets to get the biggest finals crowd of the series outside of G.F this year)

it would be like scheduling this weeks AFL game at Ethiad..

NRL potentially locking out 25-30k fans

Having teams play at ANZ during the season in front of 15k but then not utilizing it when there could be 70-80k is insane.

I know the fans don't like getting there or watching there, but I'm sure when the joint is full that the atmosphere makes up for it.

NRL said Roosters deserved the game to played at SFS because they finished 1st and it is there home game.
Than the NRL said they were only expecting 60k to the game if they played it at ANZ
