yep
those FTA stations , the present provider & any thinking they might like to get involved
will need to open up their wallets to broadcast the NRL from 2028
It just continues to get bigger , & bigger , more popular each year
want it ?
200 mill minimum , some argue its closer to 250 million
400 million STV
50 million NZ
club land
NRL
currently 213 games , including finals & the GF exclusive
2027 that goes to 225 games
2028 237 games
State
3 mens state of origin games
3 womens state of origin games
International
the Pacific cup
ashes series ( every 2 years alternate to the WC in either the UK or Aust)
RL world cup
the lot or split
Rugby League has more to offer , in more different levels , then any sport in the region

Again split scheduling and Sunday AFL again not shown in all markets.
Sunday afternoon AFL featured Brisbane v Melbourne in those markets plus West Coast v St Kilda in Perth to average 389k. The NRL saw Raiders v Titans on 446k with both results below the previous week’s.

NRL’s big payday looms – but the fans must come first
Magic Round viewership up 20%, subscription TV audience growth of 12.5% this year,
The NRL is pushing hard to strike a new media deal, one that could reshape Australian sport. It’s been a long time coming. Under the leadership of Peter V’landys and Anthony Abdo, the code has surged in strength audience, and ambition. The NRL is chasing a massive $3 billion to $3.2 billion media deal – and it looks well within reach.

And let’s not get lost in the code wars. Sure, we’ve seen some chest beating recently between the AFL and NRL heavyweights about who is the #1 sporting code in the country, but honestly, who cares? Both codes play a vital role in the everyday lives and psyche of Australia. It doesn’t matter what shape the ball is, Aussies love their footy, they love their teams, and they’re fiercely loyal to their players.

WOW
12.5% increase in STV ratings in 2025 & around 8% on FTA
the NRL is literally killing it
no wonder up to $640 million PA is the touted figure & I'd say thats for Australia only
add another 50 mill pa for NZ
the regions biggest code will rightfully take its place as the biggest earners of media monies too , another silver for derpball

also with NZ tv deal, this was discussed and done when Warriors were at there lowest point in HISTORY
be interesting what kind of deal can be done in KIWI Land..
650mill PA will be the Minimum for Aus deal
than add in radio / Telstra and all the other extras on top
plus NZ tv deal..
