The way your cumulative ratings are going Uncle's Rupie & Kerry are gonna give your broadcast $$$$$$$ a very big trim when the next deal is done. Imagine that pal!!!!!!
Possibly, although with some changes they may right themselves. By the next TV deal the landscape may be entirely different anyway, going by how streaming is taking over.

Maybe - but the point is cumulative ratings are crucial to a codes well being. To pretend otherwise is akin to repeatedly lapping a goldfish bowl...…..oh wait lolololololololol!!!!!!!!

It's not that simple though. The networks pay for the product based on the ratings they expect. Ch7 knew their games weren't exclusive, they knew they would get lower ratings on 7 mate and for early afternoon games, and for games shown against another fox game

yes, that is completely valid. Ch7 would be very concerned about the drop in their ratings and the AFL are investigating why and will be coming up with strategies to tackle it. Foxtel will only really care about subscriptions, so if they remain the same I dont think they'll be too fussed.

I'm happy the ratings have dropped. The coaches have turned the game into something closer to rugby, which I detest. This way they will be forced to listen to the fans so the free flowing - man v man style that has served the sport for a century will return, and viewers will return.

Fox AFL totalled 1.453M for 9 games at an average of 161k. For comparison purposes no full round in 2017 rated lower! OUCH!!!!!! For further comparison Fox NRL totalled 977k for 4 games at an average of 244K & 83k more viewers per game than the AFL.
Yet the only time there was 1 game v 1 game the AFL rated higher despite it being 3rd vs 17th
What a lot of crap shit just oozes out mouth! [-(

Don't you think its time you started facing up to reality? you don't get points for missing in real life.

Good to see you're happy with the ratings catastrophe. The coaches really have turned the game into an ugly mess. But describing it as being closer to 'Rugby' is just a lazy get out used by AFL folk to denigrate another game whilst there own is tanking.

By Rugby I assume you mean Rugby Union which can be slow & tedious but is still a game of ball control, structures & skill. Even their rucks are controlled and highly policed. Unlike AFL you can't fumble the ball forward & you must only use your feet & come from & be in an onside position at all times.

It is nothing like the congested fumbling, bumbling & stumbling of modern AFL. You're game needs radical rule changes that are going to be painful & difficult to implement.

by rugby I mean the entire play in one portion of the ground with endless boring tackling and farting around. That's not what our game is about, but unfortunately they have borrowed tactics from other sports so it has degenerated into a generic mess.

Rule changes are needed such as dropping the interchanges drastically and potentially demanding at least a proportion of the side remains in the defensive and offensive areas.

That's your opinion hey. There are more people than ever watching Rugby League and less people than ever watching AFL :(/ :(/ :(/

Decreasing the interchange would only slow down the game and make it more of a mess than it already is.

What data are you using for your 'more than ever' and 'less than ever' claims?

Yep. TBH the fumbers have really got themselves a massive problem with their game. It has gradually deteriorated over a number decades from being watchable in parts to now being the ugliest spectacle in world sports.

And there is going to be no quick, magic wand, solution to their problems. They will no doubt trial a myriad of rule changes but as been shown in the past every rule change has it's own unexpected action & reaction both negative & positive.

In short there ain't any quick fix for the fumbling game. I suspect there is going to be a massive & ugly debate over the rules for many years to come.

Data not accessible down your way. Us northerners refer to it as common sense
