Yet it kicks leagues arse in every aspect.By every definition AFL is bigger.I sir dont suffer from cultural cringe.I will stand on any hill top and say my national indigenous game stands with any game invented in any place in the world. If if we are going down that path then you are a poor relative to so many other sports. As I have said in what catergory does the NRL dominate at anything, anywhere.Sorry you might be the biggest thing in PNG.

You asked for one thing and we gave you one thing. You now choose to change the context because hands down the NRL wins on representative football. The bottom line is that rep football is a runaway winner for the NRL and a gaping hole in the AFL setup.
So it cannot be the judiciary system because the AFL copied the NRL setup exactly. How about the expansion into regional areas eg Newcastle,Wollongong,Townsville etc. Seems the NRL are allover that one.

Struck a nerve did we. Today the AFL has no representative games of any sort. The NRL has state,international,city/country and all stars games which all rate through the roof and are growing nationwide. So basically the NRL tap dances all over the AFL. Your 'challenge" was to show you one area where the NRL did better than the AFL not how important was rugby league versus soccer, for example, on the international stage. Additionally there are no prizes for having had an origin concept and not being able to make it work. With regards to expansion into regional areas, as opposed to non core markets, the NRL has clearly outpointed the AFL.
Australias native game means absolutely zip. We do take pride in our inventions when they impact the rest of the world but when no one else "listens" or even the majority of Australians dont care then best to go quietly.

Tap dances all over the AFL.Cmon you truly dont believe that 3 games makes you a bigger entity than the AFL.It is sad really.Yes we dont have rep footy we dont need it.We had it and it died its natural death because we are a national game already.NRL dominates 2 cities easy to build a rivalry. The regional thing is absolute bullshit.Sorry to burst your bubble but the NRL spends pittance in the bush compared to AFL.Ask the Wagga council.I live in regional Victoria and I swear I have never seen a set of League posts. There are more regions than NSW and Qld..And the MAJORITY of Australians are very proud of there game.On friday I watched my team (the smallest in the league)play in front of 47,000 in the most modern sporting stadium in Australia.Something you can only dream about. No sorry you can barrack for a put together (from all over the place)team 3 times a year.Seems like a lot of eggs in one basket. As I said tell me in 1 way your local competition competes with the AFL.You cant you have to use the contrived nonsense that is SOO.Play it 40 times a year and you might be close. And the point I was making about the international side is this.Yes you do have a better international presence than the AFL we dont have it.But your presence would have to be considered the weakest of all our international sports. Not really something to hang your hat on.As Ive stated before you are LEADERS at nothing anywhere. This is a fact.(Sorry I forgot about PNG)

Rugby league is the most popular sport in Papua New Guinea. Rugby league also holds the title as the national sport. About 50% of the population under-20 play rugby league.[2] Since 2010, the sport has been a mandatory part of the curriculum in all schools in Papua New Guinea.[3]
In a nation where communities are far apart and many people live at a minimal subsistence level, rugby league has been described as a replacement for tribal warfare, as a way of explaining the local enthusiasm for the game (a matter of life and death).[citation needed] Port Moresby Governor Powes Parkop role rugby league plays in bonding the nation's 800 disparate tribes and reducing crime citing its "ability to impact positively on all walks of life in PNG".[3]
The annual Australian State of Origin matches are the most watched sporting event of the year.
Many Papua New Guineans have become instant celebrities by representing their country or playing in an overseas professional league. The West New Britain rugby league player, Marcus Bai, is a national celebrity after he played for the National Rugby League with Melbourne Storm. Even Australian rugby league players who have played in the annual (Australian) State of Origin clash, which is celebrated feverishly every year in PNG, are among the best-known personalities throughout the nation.
The Papua New Guinea national rugby league team, known as the Kumuls, are currently ranked fourth in the world. The team usually plays against the Australian national rugby league team each year in Port Moresby. It is such a popular fixture, that thousands of people can't get into the ground once it's full, causing people to climb onto the stadium roof or up trees outside the ground in order to see the match. The limited capacity of the stadium for this fixture often sparks riots. Spectators clashed with riot police, during this fixture in 2006
Also its been estimated that around 2 million people play rugby league in some form. It's a little more and than few playing 7's so why don't you get the facts stooge

Always a crack up when the AFL crew refer to their national game. More than half the population live in states/territories where AFL is irrelevant The AFL now has over 20% of their teams in these states but draws less than 10% of their TV ratings from this massive market. Their costs for the two new teams means that they currently spend nearly 30% in NSW/QLD yet their share of market has gone backwards to paraphrase Mr Churchill " Never has so much been spent to attract so few

The NRL game is so much better because off for having rep football. because players aspire to play representative football, they lift and the game lifts. The AFL would have rep football in a minute if they could just find somebody who'll play with them.
