This thread doesn't deserve to die.
Week 1 of the finals is a bit of a dream round with 2 at the G, 1 in Perth & 1 in Sydney.
If there's any of you left, what are you other AFL lads expecting?
Tigs v Hawks: 95k
Dees v Cats: 80k
Swans v GWS: 45k
Eagles v Pies: 55k
Ish.
That'd be ultra conservative. 275k
The Semi's are already sellout locks.
NRL lads if anybody is listening what are your prospects this week. Big drawing teams? Etc.
Its a wonder Draw for the AFL this finals series.
Featuring some of the biggest drawers in the league..
I expect a big turn out attendances wise and tv figures.
your pretty much spot on the attendances figures..
(regarding the NRL)
NRL had some scheduling stuff ups this week. but actually not there fault.
as teams needed more than 5 day turn around, and the use of some stadiums unavailable
(storm v Souths) 27k
Panthers v Warriors 23k
roosters v Sharks 32k
Broncos v Dragons 48k
unfortunately for the NRL they have 1 international team up against Panthers playing out of Olympic Pk
= Ouch
all the rest of games should have good crowds.

Are they sellouts for Storm and Bronco's?
Roosters game at ANZ or SFS?
Are Penrith gunna play much at the new stadium when it's done?

not sure about the Storm game>> may come down to the member turn out.
Broncos game will go very close to sell out
Penrith have not committed any games to new stadium
and if they do play a game there i would say would only be 1 or 2
as Penrith is located 35km away from the new stadium.

Surely travelling 35km to a brand spanking new stadium is better than playing at a shitty old ground. Unless their stadium in particular isn't so bad?
Regardless, I don't see how being 35km from a stadium in a city of 6 million can be relevant. It's not the local afternoon league.
I realise there's 'Sydney traffic' but Geelong is about 80km from the MCG and involves going through the city.
Not exactly a dream run but it never stops them from turning up. I live about 45km south on the other side of the bay. Distance to the grounds has never been an issue for anyone down here.
Nobody seems to care that it's a fair hike.
In this regard, there's some seriously precious fans up there.

as i said, they are not committed to the new stadium.
Penrith Stadium currently holds 22k (see picture below)
i dont get what the reason would be for the Panthers to travel 35km to a newer designed stadium
when they have a good stadium in there own backyard
which has plenty of parking and transport needs.
new Stadium will hold 30k

That's why I asked about their stadium. I thought it was one of the 'shitty suburban grounds'.
The rest of the comment was general, not Penrith specific.

Will the AFL will get more people to the opening round of the finals than the NRL thicknecks will get to their entire final series? Hopefully for the NRL, the local group homes allow their residents some gate leave to boost attendance figures...

That's great Wookster. Can you give us the Sydney TV ratings for a further comparison?? Thanks pal.
Oh.....and maybe TV ratings for the whole year thus far. And comparisons to last year for the respective codes i.e. NRL & AFL. Just round figures will do and a plus or minus on 2017. Thanks Wookster.

Agreed .
The storm would have sold out except for that .
I initially blamed the NRL but then read due to making sure each team got a 6 day break it's how they had to program it .
