I know that not all games are shown nationally

the AFL schedule is brilliant and it would be great if the NRL did the same.

each state bar Melbourne gets there home teams on FTA each week
that is brilliant and if its not on FTA you can watch it on fox in other states.

you see your home teams, plus sometimes another 2 or 3 games in the week.
its great

I am not but but buting .... :?>

Yes I Agree, its pretty simple to understand.

TV deals were sold, the networks really wanted it.
AFL said we want 4,5 games on FTA into northern states, if you want the Tv rights on your network
The AFL yes would not of made that much on it, by the networks screening the no rate games.
but still a great move.

THE NRL needs the Deal what the AFL has.

teams like Melbourne getting FTA
Cowboys FTA
Canberra FTA
etc etc

hoping this changes in years to come.

the issue for the NRL is the ratings outside NSW and QLD are very very low, far lower than the AFL in NSW and QLD. The networks would make a loss on these telecasts which would effect the overall deal

yes this is true, that is because especially S.A and W.A have no teams in the comp.
a team would only lift it. (by how much hard to say)

judging by last years NRL figures into Melbourne there is a drop on FTA by at least 50%
so I would say a lot have switched from the outdated Ch9 telecast to FOX

and its only common knowledge that a home team in a city would lift coverage.
I am not expecting big numbers. maybe 20% lower than northern states to begin with.
and lift from there onwards.

In SA and WA
there is also less sporting teams, which would help.

As a qld person following AFL i suspect those who follow the non traditional sport in the state are more likely to have foxtel as you not only get the games but the shows. Hence why low figures on fta.

That is probably true,

its not hard to work out really go to the figures the year prior without fox simulcast
and you look at the average on FTA only and now look with Fox and FTA screening the same game.

who am I...

Thu STV #AFL #FoxFooty #AFLCrowsNorth 299k
Thu TV #AFL #AFLCrowsNorth Seven 432k (Mel 253k Ade 178k)
7mate 122k (Syd 27k Bri 23k Per 71k)
Total 844k

Two interstate teams (no other sporting code on)

and lucky to break 1 million.. (that is shocking)

Look at the lift in the Adelaide figures for a home team (as expected)
almost doubling the Friday night avg for a Friday night game..

With the typical regionals of 200 this will get around 1.05m. Not sure thats bad for a Thursday. Sure is better than most of the nrls thursday night games.

The AFL creaming the nrl on fox for Thursday and Friday games too

if the regionals are that..

the NRL has had 9 Thursday nights games 5 of them over 1mill mark 4 below.

great to see the NRL take out the year with a total figure :thumbleft:
