Xman you live in a fantasy word. Your Opening week You had two FTA matches, and around 3 or 4 the following week. All matches were Shown live and at most one may have overlapped a pay TV match(slightly). And your best was under 1.2m.

In our opening week we had 1 fully live game(1.3m), 1 half live, half delayed (1.5m) and one fully delayed (1m). Your mob would be salivating at the very thought of such numbers
Ratings depend on the match too. Our highest arent usually the opening rounds. ANZAC day rated over 1.7m last year. FN games involving Perth and Melbourne teams rated well. This is similar to your broncos v Sydney games which rate well.

The other thing is the NRL can essentially target 8m heartland viewers in a single game. Ie broncos v Sydney team, hence the broncos are on FN almost every weekend.

The AFL cannot do this because they have teams and heartland in 3 states.

The difference is the AFL have matches of interest over the entire weekend. The NRL target FN but bomb out for the rest. The AFL more than catch up over the weekend as seen by the ratings last year.
Guess what NRL has our Anzac match on FTA this year for the first time, get ready to get squashed...
Confident you'll beat 1.7m? You good friday game only reached 1.3M didnt?

Sorry totally disagree, the AFL cannot do this because the AFL only has one large heartland compared to the NRL which has 2.

Kerry Stokes has now after 1 season relegated all AFL matches bar west coast and froe in WA to the Secondary channel, looks like Kerry paid overs for the AFL to me and is trying to recoup some losses after the first season of the TV deal......

Perth ratings on the secondary channel are also down on last year so it looks like Kerry is at a loss/loss here. =D> =D>

NRL has the advantage on Tele no matter which way you spin it, and from next year the NRL will have Thursday night football as a permanent fixture LIVE. This will widen the ratings gap even further and create a even larger TV deal next time around.

In those matches didn't you have the advantage of showing just the match ratings while we showed the entire broadcast ratings?

And if previous years ratings are ever shown , you will see that we dominated the Semi numbers in 2011.

didnt you also?

Doesnt your code show the Bronco's, a team representing 2 Million plus people almost every Friday? I wonder why your other matches rate so much lower :-k

You mean 2011 when every FN game was delayed by 2 hours to Perth?

Or Thursday. You''ve had 3 we've had 7. If we restrict this to live , then twice we've got to 1.5m and once to 1.3m. Your yet to get to 1.2m. But as you say its early days.

Datlight savings has affected us in these early rounds which it always does, hence our bigger rating games are a few rounds into the season. 3 hours time difference between Melbourne and Perth is a killer for prime time viewing for a game involving both cities. This is effectively what the NRL do, maximise viewers for both markets in one or two games on FN. This will come easier for us now that daylight savings is over.

Showing live AFL on 7mate in Perth is also a killer. Perth have been screaming for live AFL for years but I' not sure they wanted telecasts at 4.30pm on work days on a secondary digital chanell!  Some of their figures are 100k down!

In reality both codes have highest ratings on FN. Our best are yet to come, although Perths coverage may hold us back this year.

They are exactly what they are - what they were said to be-

You can hardly blame the NRL for the fact that there only live broadcast is of a friday night. If you didn't have such a long winded , boring drawn out game then D would do this to.

Make all the excuses you like, but the bottom line is there just futile attempts to take the focus off your games inadequacys

Right, weve already had more fans attend our games in 2 rounds than your entire first 5 rounds. Hows that for inadequacies?

As already said before, the NRLand ch9 target FN with multiple games using matches involving teams from multiple markets, usually the Broncos because embarrasingly for the NRL they are the only team for 2 million people.

The AFL on the other hand are happy to share the FN game more liberally and let more teams benefit from the increased exposure. If that means they are out rated on FN, well so be it. Its not like they couldnt do the same thing and get more viewers. Where they may lose out on FN for 1 hour of ratings they win in spades for the rest of the weekend.
