You could actually base an argument around 'what is wrong with Melbourne' re their obsession with sport. I won't do that.
if you ignore Adelaide and Perth's fantastic attendance records for AFL you could...........
How about thes Swans. They average 30k plus most seasons. In a round of usual pissy turn outs for the nrlol, the swans attracted 39k against Freo of all teams.
The endless excuses, weather, stadiums, bad times etc

The NRL have stated they are committed to the 6pm Friday timeslot for 2018>>>

No good. I don't know how it works for the nrl folk to be honest. Most people are just walking in the door at that time if they're lucky. Daylight savings here and it's on at 5pm.

well we've certainly had far more success with Thursday nights compared to you guys.
What happened to the NRL controlling their schedule next year?

Yeh they are controlling the schedule from 2018, they just think they can improve this timeslot,
and are sticking with it, >> the tv figures are not that big either, AVG 180-200k
this game would be well better served as a day game on the weekend>>
if it goes as bad as this year, you would think, they would give it the kick.

Then the crowds will magically start turning up like the haven't down for the day 60 odd years
Another 24 months of chest beating then the but buts will begin again

They will control it. It doesnt mean that the broadcasters wont still have a heavy influence, just like Seven and Fox still do for the AFL.
The broadcasters will have near full control of the nrlol schedule. The nrlol sold everything all bar the kitchen sink to get close to the AFL

I am just asking the question but did the nrl deal include the digital media with Telstra included or was that the pre joys deal ?
Also, nrl deal gets extras due to a night grand final on a Sunday I believe which makes sense. The AFL have refused thus far to do so but if they did they would get substantially more. That Friday game at 6 is a shocker too ... don't fox request that ?

I am not sure if it was included in the NRL deal or not,
I wonder how much to the network a night G.F is worth compared to a day?
the NRL has had night G.F since 2001
pretty sure fox requested this timeslot for lead into the 8pm game that night>>
I would say FOX would of wanted better figures for the 6pm game..
especially what it rates is compared to a day game figure>> 2pm

just switched over to the NRL. If the giants had a crowd this small theyd be roundly laughed at. Maybe the throwballers are crying instead
