It looks like they're cutting it back to 4 teams to play on one day only in Melbourne. After the joke it turned out to be last year I'm not surprised. Even hard core fumbling zealots hammered the freak show and it doesn't seem to be getting any better as this sentence in the article attached shows, "It has received a warm response from clubs and players and the competition committee",

I suspect they will have one more throw of the dice in 2019 and then we'll never hear of it again. A bit like AFL in NZ.

I don’t really think that was the plan as there are cricket ovals in Australia. The Gold Coast and Brisbane need more footy grounds anyway to accomodate the game as it is.

I would agree. They are taking of SoO but again, this want work as home and away takes precedent. As soon as a player is injured there will be an outcry. Players who are playing injured will use that week to rest up. It will be the same old same old which resulted in it ending in the first place. It became a secondary competition and no one wants to lose players to that. Hence I’m not sure why this whole aflx thing went ahead.

Now if they do do this soo thing ...they should do it as a carnival type thing over a long weekend. A knock out comp and have teams from each state. And out of season. If they are going to base it on it’s original format ... offer some crazy amount of money to players ... and maybe draft points for clubs if players play?
