What proof do you have that its the networks? If it's the network why don't ch9 or Fox do it with the NRL. They do it because some insecure ego maniac suffering with a major case of Penis envy asked them to. It would of been part of there contract!

Why would Oztam do it unless they were asked. [-X

You're kidding right?

Almost every program does it! It would be up to the stations.

The AFL telecast on ch7 went for 3 and a half hours last night, yet the actual game only lasts 2 and a quarter. That's an hour and a quarter of pre and post game. Where as the NRL only goes for 2 hours with the game taking 90 minutes. That's only 30 minutes pre and post game.

Fox footy had 2 and a quarter hour pre and post game, longer than the NRLs entire broadcast.

simulcast on foxtel. 1.2m all up. Nice for such a late game. It will be nice when they return to 7.30pm games next week. 11pm is just too late for many younger viewers.

FOX FOOTY's move into Friday night pre-game shows has excelled, with the Eddie McGuire fronted panel out-rated only by the game itself.

The Friday Night Footy on Fox pre-game show was the second highest rating program on subscription television for the evening with 134,000 viewers nationally, while 247,000 viewers chose to watch the Adelaide-Essendon game commercial free.

Seven broadcast the game on its main channel in Melbourne and Adelaide and on digital channel 7Mate in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane, to a national average audience of 951,000 viewers.

Bombers emotional winners

James Manning, editor of MediaWeek magazine, said Fox Footy would be delighted with the pre-game numbers.

"On a regular night that'd be the number one show on subscription television," Manning told AFL.com.au.

"They're just looking to capitalise, it was the number one subscription TV channel for as long as the season lasted last year."

Some fans took to social media, angered by commentators from host broadcaster Seven going silent in between goals, while it took commercial breaks, but the network denies it's reverted to its old practice.

Talking points: Adelaide v Essendon

"It wasn't deliberate, or policy or any change from last year. The commentators just weren't talking in a couple of breaks," a Seven spokesperson told AFL.com.au.

Overall, Manning doesn't believe Seven would be concerned by what Fox is up to.

"I don't think Seven are particularly worried, they're pretty confident that because their product's free the Fox Footy offering is always going to be comparatively niche," Manning said.

It was the first time Seven broadcast the AFL on 7mate, as opposed to its main channel, live into Perth with 92-thousand viewers watching at the earlier time of 5.40pm.

Seven's Friday night coverage was bolstered by a live horse racing cross at half time for Black Caviar's 24th consecutive victory.

D desperate to give people the impression that his ratings are increasing, just like the NRL's. Or more likely, he trying to hide the fact his ratings are in decline - or should I say freefall.
:salute:
2011- post match on 7
2012 - post & pre match on 7
213 - post & pre match on 7 as well as post & pre match on Fox.
2014 - :-k

Oh dear...

There was no substantial difference in ratings between 2010 and 2011 suggesting coding the post match made no difference.

In 2012 the pre match coding was added but coincided with live games starting at 7.50pm. this meant the pregame was actually 20 minutes instead of the 10 minutes in 2011.

Are you suggesting the AFLs ratings increased 10% because they coded 10 minutes out of a 3 hr telecast? :-k   of course it had nothing to do with live footy shown an hour earlier   #-o

Pre match on fox is a brand new program and started half an hour before the gameday telecast yesterday. The actual telecast was identical to last year and still included 20 minutes lead up to the game which started at

The NRLs ratings are up because theyve added more live night games, including Sunday and Thursday. Yet your crowds have suffered significantly.

In the end youre sooking because the AFLs telecast is finally being trimmed to a size closer to the NRLs telecast.

Poor puddy
