the NRL has 8 games spread out over 4 days, averaging 2 games or 4 hours play per day, which is hardly a stretch. The AFL has 9 games condensed into 3 days, or 9 hours per day, where only 3 hours is in isolation. And funnily enough the isolated game usually rates ahead of the NRL
So the scheduling differences are huge and drastically advantage the NRL

Bullshit ..once again .
Whatever you lose in non isolation games would be made up for by
A. An extra game on FTA
& B.Games televised into HOME MARKETS to get the biggest audience .
Terry is right .

Just because I have a different view and stick to it, doesnt mean I'm not as entitled to my view like you. So fuck off with the fish bowl shit. You cant just use that on everyone you disagree with. You push your view just as much.
1. Melbourne does NOT get an extra game on most weekends. Adelaide and Perth mostly do but they are an afternoon game, often on delay, andoften on 7 mate
2. the advantage we get for an occasional extra FTA game on sat arvo is well and truly lost given perth get their FN game at 5.50pm on 7 mate, something the NRL never has to contend with
3. games into home markets is also what the NRL do with the Broncos/GC. You only need a single game to do this. We need multiple games to target Perth and Adelaide, hence we use multiple games....

Point 1
how many games are on FTA that are delayed in to certain states>> here in Sydney everything is LIVE
Point 2
5:50pm game>> on a Friday>> into one state of Perth
>> NRL have a game at Friday 6pm every week
Point 3
as stated before Broncos only get 55% of FTA games this year.
Gold Coast is 1hr away
Cowboys are 1000km away.
Multiple games work a treat>>
example
Cowboys which we saw in the report rate just as well as broncos games.
But are limited to only 8 FTA games>> with the remaining 16 games on FOX
with limited viewership to watch.
Play on FTA with a concurrent game at same time
and the 2 FTA games will still rate better than 2 fox games even if they were played at 5:30 & 7:30pm
even if the 2 fox games got 300k each would = 600k
are you saying 4 teams on FTA would not beat 600k ??

lets look at figures >> includes regionals
Fox Exclusive
Raiders v Storm 270k 5:30
Cowboys v Souths 300k 7:30
if there was a concurrent game of NRL on Saturday Night>>
kick off 7:30 both games on FTA and FOX (as if you don't like one game you can watch the other on FOX
raiders live into ACT
Storm live into Melb
FTA 140k FOX 170k
Cowboys live into QLD
Souths Live into NSW
FTA 500k FOX 240k
so instead of getting if Exclusive to FOX 570k
you are now getting close to 900k to million viewers
(this is why the AFL schedule the way they do>>
you are getting best of both worlds...
something I Wish the NRL would take up at the last rights deal for the fans of the game

Perth only get 3 games this weekend, 2 of which are on 7mate, and both prime time games start prior to 6pm.
Next week they get 4 games but 3 are on 7mate.
Same for the following weekend with prime time games starting 5.30pm.
The following weekend there's only 3 and all are on 7mate.
For the next 4 rounds Adelaide have 3 delayed games (by nearly 3 hours) and 1 on 7 mate
For the next 4 rounds Melbourne only get 3 FTA games
No wonder the ratings are down. I didnt realise but this current TV deal is good in that home markets (Perth and Adelaide) see their home teams on FTA, but other than that it is poor for ratings. 7 mate into Perth at 5pm for almost for every game, our second biggest market, is massive disadvantage. Combine that with concurrent fox games and there's little wonder our ratings have dropped
Point 2
5:50pm game>> on a Friday>> into one state of Perth
>> NRL have a game at Friday 6pm every week
but it's not your premier FTA game, that starts at a time friendly 8pm
Multiple games work a treat>>
last Saturday we had Ess v Giants and Carl v Geelong, so Melbourne were targeted with 3 teams and Sydney the fourth. The advantage in ratings over a single game would have been very small, especially if the only FTA option was the worst game.
example
Cowboys which we saw in the report rate just as well as broncos games.
But are limited to only 8 FTA games>> with the remaining 16 games on FOX
with limited viewership to watch.

playing both at once would split your foxtel audience giving maybe 350k all up. This would make your average fox ratings far lower if you did it every week, which would hurt your cumulative ratings

If you think this is a problem unique to AFL fans, then you arent paying attention.
It didn't seem to effect RL fans when the 2017 WC was on. The 9 secondary channel got massive numbers game after game. Even Mr TV commented on what a ratings winner those games were. And if Mr TV is praising Ch9 & RL you absolutely know for 100% sure your are killing it!!!1

But what woulf the ratings have been if it was on the main channel? Figures for multiple programs show they are better
