Mal hes playing dumb or just down right dishonest.

This is what happens when he realizes that the AFL are going backwards on ratings for the second year running while the NRL is up about %5 in 2015 and another 20%+ in 2016 after round 7.

Its burns him inside so his survival instincts come out....

actually TV ratings across the board are dropping due to greater viewer choice through the introduction of secondary channels and streaming services like netflix. http://www.smh.com.au/business/media-an ... o5jev.html

The NRL have changed their schedule substantially from last year so a direct comparison isnt possible. Next season would be a better indication of change

Fair dinkum xman you do more backflips than a room full of politicians. Now you concede the average is up but come up with some lame spin doctoring. It's not about scheduling or your perception of popularity its about sets of eyeballs on the game.

The FACT is the NRL is up 5 Mill viewers on last year. It's incontrovertible, beyond dispute, can't be questioned but you're saying it dosen't have anything to do with popularity.......laughable.

It's like last years GF's. The NRL got 600,000 more viewers than the rabble ball equivalent but you lot spun it as a victory to rabble ball because of scheduling. It beats me how anyone can argue that lower ratings mean more popularity.......but that's what you're doing!! You're not John Cleese are you???? :[] :[] :[] :[] :[]

Same as round 5 FN game. It looks like Wookie is adding up the total metro and regionals then adding these numbers together to the individual city figures again. So your 20% needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

As for last night, if the figures for fox are decent this game will be the highest rating game of the year so far, beating every NRL game. So it's not a round in isolation, it's the one that rules them all (so far)

R4. FN metro 557k + 384K regionals + 229k fox = 1170 (without sky)
I imagine your Rd5 calculations are just as shit.

either way it wont make the top 10! maybe the top 20.
what are you on about?
The regional figure is 361 not 384, I've copied that down wrong. But there is nothing wrong with Wookies figures. Meaning yes a 20% increase.

Mal Mal Mal, settle yourself down champ.

If you introduce more live games in prime time your total viewers will obviously rise, and significantly. Instead of having 1 game rating 1m and the delayed game rating 500k you now have both games rating 1m. If you introduce more games on fox in prime time your viewership must rise also because prime time games rate higher than afternoon games. I've never disputed this.

I've only disputed that your 'comparable' games to last year, such as your live FN game and live Sunday games, are not achieving higher ratings than last year, and they dont appear to be. Certainly not by 20%. If they did you wouldnt be struggling to get audiences over 1.1m while the AFL's game last night will be in the order of 1.3-1.4m

Comprehend yet? :drunk: :drunk:

Did you figure that fox simulcast helps as well

Which us nrl folk have been saying since day 1
I extra live game doesn't achieve an extra 20% lift

All fox games are up overall.

Wait to origin time lol

no doubt simulcasting helps some, probably more to do with counting than audience I'd say. But can you see how Wookie is adding the regionals twice?

Last nights NRL game rated Fri STV #NRL #FoxSports #NRLBroncosSouths 231k + 858k= 1.089m

:[] Xman, are the NRL ratings up 20% or not? That is the bottom line....the end figure, the final result. You can spin it any way you like but the figures don't lie. (Although I believe you will find a way to make them if it suits your rabble ball agenda).

You're just giving reasons why there up in some lame attempt to downplay the increase. By your reasoning comparisons with last year are irrelevant and shouldn't be made......laughable. Try spinning that to an advertiser or the broadcaster..........."Hey mate, NRL veiwers are up 20% but I wouldn't advertise there, the popularity is still the same". LOL...... :[] :[] :[] :[] :[]

Fine, lets ignore reasons and go with figures, since as you say, they dont lie. The final figure is the AFL earn more in TV revenue than the NRL, even accounting for RL's SOO, internationals games, and international rights.

As far as popularity goes, you've had an increase due to changing your schedule, which means little when the AFL still have higher rating games like last night

This year's first 5 Sunday arfternoon games with full rating figures available average 751k

The same figure for 2015 was 780k

This excludes NZ for both years so it's apples for apples

This represents a decrease in Sunday afternoon FTA (plus fox for 2016) ratings of nearly 4%

This is what I'm getting at. Like for like does not represent a 20% increase. The change is due to scheduling changes only

The only change to our schedule is one delayed game instead of one live game although there were 7 or 8 weeks were we had the same set up like Rd.1 up over 400k extra (no SKY which was over 200k last year) and Rd 5 up almost 300k (again no sky).

Our Rd1 match was 240 without gem regionals , and without sky - our opening game on sky last year got 40k. regardless we will have a new leader in a few weeks

Cant be explained anymore simpler than that boys.

NRL 2015 up 5%
AFL 2015 down about 9%

NRL 2016 After round 7 up over 20%

2016's first 5 rounds of foxtel without simulcast FTA was 3439k

2015's first 6 rounds of MN and SN on foxtel was 3004k

This represents a 14% increase in ratings. So this plus the Thursday night game appears to be where the increase has come from
