SOME NRL clubs continue to inflate their home crowd figures.

In Round 1, the Roosters put up 36,000 for the game against Souths at Allianz Stadium.

It gave them bragging rights over Sydney FC and the Waratahs for the biggest crowd of the season.

I'm told from reliable sources the true attendance figure was 33,000.

Wow, NRL crowds dropping this year despite obvious exaggerations

Three 12k crowds for the NRL today. Even if they get 20k to Newcastle tomorrow night this will be their lowest average for the first 3 rounds since 2004.

"we all"...........have a look at the LU crowds thread. Almost every RL fan openly concedes many crowds are grossly exagerated! That sounds like "we all" alright

Yep. Just yesterday my old mate Alan or 'Cumberland Throw' on LU posted "<10000 at cb" in Penrith, but the 'official' attendance was 12,940. Fudge fuge. [-X

Send my wishes to him for me please, Raiderdave.

Slow day at work, so I thought I might make a few predictions about AFL round 1.

So far we have had 2 crowds of 42 and 40K heres my guesses for the rest:

Carlton V Richmond 80K
WB V BL 28K
GWS V Swans 38K
GC V StK 16K
Mel V Port: 28K
NMel V Pies: 43K
Haw V Geel: 75K

Average for round 1: 43.3 K a new record for amount of people in a single round.

Come at me.

Bugger. According to BOM Thursday will be the worst day so this will probably shave 5k - 10k off depending on how bad the weather is. Richmond fans usually show up in force when it's their home game against Carlton so I'd still expect above 70k there. When rain affects an nRL match you can expect about a 50% drop off in crowds.

Thats going to spoil it a little oh well. Might still average 40K if that is the case (5 of 7 games are in Melbourne this weekend). But the good news is that it will increase the Melbourne TV ratings.

I don't think it'll be too bad. May keep a few away Thursday but the weekend looks like a few showers only. Should be ok.

15k at Newcastle. Round av only 13.6k #-o #-o

Season average only 16,948, the lowest after the 3rd round since 2004. I don't think theyve had a single rainy game either.

Oh dear, Whats going on? :-k

And not to mention another blowout. I think there's just too many blowouts in the uneven nRL comp these days so fans are staying away.

amidoingitright?

Rain forecast for the Sydney derby on Saturday too. Sydneysiders hate the sight of clouds on gameday. 8-[
