Not so much lies as a misconception.

Metro ratings were up 24%, Regional Ratings were up 8%, Total FTA ratings were up 18%, Fox was up 6%. The total figure was down - but remember we didnt get Sunday figures for the NRL on FTA, and that would have made up most of, if not all of the 350,000 ratings gap.
Once the Sunday FTA figures come in the total should easily exceed last years. That's a very strong start to the season.

Grand final should be a big crowd at Carrara which will flow into the men's game... although a few hours between the two. Suspect more lions supporters to stay around.

Also allows those who had to choose to go to both. I was reluctantly going to the women's match to take the daughter but alas it's a win win for me anyway.

respectable crowd for the Blues v tigers at the MCG tonight, especially given how they're expected to go this year. How's the NRL crowd tonight?

Was it played in a cyclone? How is such a low crowd possible for two homeland clubs who are currently in the top 8?

These two teams over the past 10years have been attracting crowds on AVG of around 30k

To be fair Sydney has had a long period of really wet weather, I wont criticise anyone for staying at home or watching from a pub. Its very unseasonal usually alot hotter and drier. Melb has been a lot drier for the last 4 weeks, it does effect your psychie when its persistently wet and misserable.
