17800 in Tassie tonight while only 9000 turned up in Canberra! Raiders starting to look irrelevant in the nations Capitol!

If Raiders crowds are irrelevant then the Giants are worse.

Except Raiders have been there for about 25 yrs + and now have a lower average in Canberra than the Giants! Irrelevant!

I think they had an exhibition or preseason game. Rl is less existent there than in Victoria but the nrl should put the odd game there. It will draw a crowd as one off games tend to, and will promote the game. Maybe storm playing an away game there ?

Storm played a preseason game at North Hobart oval a while back. Got about 11,000 from memory
I would have thought a regular game a year would get at least a comparable crowd with Syd - 11,000 is a Sydney NRL crowd.

Maybe Souths v Penrith or West Tigers?

Is that really the average in sydney for nrl? That is very low indeed. Why do they rate so well yet get so few to many games? That is quite a disparity.

There is also the large crowds for soo ... So that discounts the "it is better on tv so people stay home to watch" argument. Obviously they have the product in soo but not in nrl home and away to get people to the game- so how do the nrl get the game to a point where punters will go in significant numbers. I think once people experience a large crowd atmosphere they tend to enjoy it so much they go back. Look at broncos and swans for instance. Maybe more doubke headers in sydney or cheaper tickets. Give tickets away even so they can gey crowds ... Once hooked they may come back. This can only grow the nrl. They obviously have the product and support but do need to increase numbers at games

The trouble really is SOO - it has become the premium product - you don't go to the footy to watch the Reserves - Also their season is just too long - apart from soccer most codes of footy don't go that long. Shorten season get rid of SOO and maybe cut a few NRL clubs.

There is no way the nrl are going to get rid of origin. It would decimate there tv rights for starters and it is their premium product. What is needed is to play it after the grand final is done . say in november.

It was just a suggestion. If it were not to be played in thr home and away season when would you propose it be played ... Hyoerthetically that is?
